Hey everyone,

My name is Derek Giannone and I am graduate student at Drexel University's Master of Science in Psychology program. I recently launched my thesis study that investigates the different ways, both positive and negative, that Veterans may come to experience various changes in response to stressful events. I am hoping that your community might be of assistance in helping us understand how to facilitate growth in Veterans through the completion of this survey. It is estimated to take 15-20 minutes to complete, and Veterans who participate will be entered into a raffle for one of three $25 gift cards upon completion. You can find more information about the study below. Your interest and participation is extremely important to us, and we hope that this research will help us both better understand Veterans and ways to assist them after they experience stressors in both their military and civilian lives. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me here on the message board. Additionally, you can find the study flyer attached to this message!

Recruiting U.S. Military Veterans for a Research Study
Veterans’ Pathways to Change after Stressful Events

This study will help us understand how Veterans come to experience changes in response to stressful life events. Participating in this study includes answering an anonymous* survey with questions about your demographic and military-related information, past stressful experiences, and problem-solving approaches. This survey should only take about 15-20 minutes to complete and you may do it online or in-person by appointment.

*We will not be asking you for any identifying information and your responses cannot be linked you. Privacy and confidentiality are very important to us, and every effort will be made to protect them.

You may participate in the study if you are:

1. 21 years of age or older
2. a Veteran of the United States Armed Forces
3. Able to read and understand English
4. Not actively serving in any branch of the United States Military.

Compensation:

Upon completion, you will have the option to enter your name into a raffle to win one of three $25 Amazon gift cards. If you are interested in entering the raffle, your contact information will be collected through a separate survey to protect your privacy and confidentiality.
