I am on 60 mg of paxil daily, 20 mg of buspar 3 times a day, trazadone 50mg for sleep and she just added .5 mg of lorazepam when needed when I have panic attacks. It scares me I am on so much medication. Is the lorazepam ok to take even with the paxil?

I am on a lot of meds too. Talk to the pharmacist about your concerns about interactions and such. They usually do a good job of checking them all out and explaining things to you.

I'm on a lot of meds I try to stagger so I'm not taking them all at once. Are they helping you? That is the important piece. I take benzodiazepines for anxiety and got carried away with them. I was overusing over a six month period of time and my shrink cut me off. The detox was horrendous so be careful with that shit.

I feel like I'm on a lot of meds too. I've always just been on 1. But now I'm starting 3 More. I'm nervous because taking new meds makes me anxious. I'm trusting my dr and I'm going to try it out. I'm willing to do anything at this point!

I wasn't too keen on the lorazapam but I have a lot of short term anxiety right now that it is useful for. I'm too afraid to get hooked on that stuff so I probably won't use it at all.

I feel like I'm on lots of meds too. Sometimes it's necessary to get us through rough patches. If you are really concerned I'd suggest doing some research on you particular meds not only for interactions but for redundancy. Then discuss what you've found out with you prescribing doc. If you scripts are from multiple docs get them talking to each other. This is your care you are in charge of it. If it doesn't feel right speak up.

I personally use the web site @Whispering_Truth posted. It's an excellent resource.

It is definitely useful. I have used it many times in the past, and found out some shocking facts. I was recently prescribed some medication to help with my headaches, but I got a letter in the mail from my insurance company, of all things, stating that the new meds would have a dangerous reaction with my current ones. Looks like the doc would have known that. They don't know what the hell they are doing..

I'm on so many meds I could be a pharmacy. I just had a sleep study two weeks ago and typed up a letter listing all my meds as there wasn't enough room on their form. I take Klonopin for anxiety and sleep and am now trying to cut down my dose, but it's a benzo (like lorazepam) and almost impossible to get off of without help. I would think it would be ok to take the lorazepam occasionally. It's when you take it on a daily basis you become dependent on it. I took it back in the 70's and it did help with my anxiety, but found myself taking more and more every time I'd get anxious. I finally was able to wean myself off of it. Now I've become med resistant to all benzos so none of them really work.

Have to agree. Very hard to get off if taken daily, and withdrawals can be hell. As in seizures.

Used them for emergency pills.
I second that. I have Xanax (another benzo related to lorazepam) for emergencies for panic attacks. But rarely taken anymore. Haven't in almost 7 months.

But sometimes just knowing it is there is helpful to calm your mind. I did find Xanax helpful to "break the pattern" of panic attacks. But not something I would ever take daily.

Just my opinion and situation.
