I had an EEG done today. It was a simple one: electrodes, reclining chair, hyperventilate and flashing lights with the eyes closed.

That was about three hours ago. I'm nauseous, dizzy, and exhausted.

I'm sure there are a few of you out there that have had an EEG before. I did a quick google search and found that there were other people who had this 'reaction' to an EEG but they never came back and said what their results said.

Personally, I think the test was a waste of time and money but why do I feel like hell now?
Anyone care to comment?

Did they make you fast before the test and stay up for 24 hours? Usually those tests are run while the patient is sleep deprived. I felt horrible after mine, but the results were normal. No seizure activity. I think it had more to do with the overstimulation and sleep depravation.

Nope. Normal sleep (or normal for me), non-fasting.
I was in there for about an hour?
This is the quick, fast and dirty one.

Did your face or eyes twitch? Did you panic? I don't know. That kind of stimulus is nauseating to me even when I am not hooked up to electrodes.

heh.. my leg twitched at one point.
I know I was fidgety and anxious because someone who was learning to clog was directly upstairs from us but the tests themselves didn't seem to phase me much. I did start to feel like this AFTER the strobe test. I remember lying there in the dark with my eyes closed feeling like I was getting farther away and dizzy. The nausea kicked in after the test.
I"m trying to avoid taking another Bonine because they make my ears ring if I take them too close together.

I take Zofran too for nausea, yes but again, I take that when I first get up. It' only noon now. I don't want to take it too soon. Anyway the nausea seemed to be 'break through' and has settled a bit. The dizziness is a bigger issue.

No. I don't keep those on hand.
Just flustered by all of this. I figured I would be able to go about my day and it's pretty much stopped me in my tracks.
They should really mention that this is a possible side effect. Jerks.

No. This is to test if I could possibly be having seizures and not be aware- which is perfectly stupid. It's a tiny snippet of time and if it doesn't show up there, it's still inconclusive BUT because I live in a rural area this is all they offer.

They did the same to me. I was having, for lack of a better term, brain zaps. At the timr, i was being seen by a specialist in a major medical center. They also ran an eeg. It was the same type of test, although I was sleep deprived for 24 h and fasting. Supposedly a combination of the flashing lights and the sleep deprivation does a good job inducing seizures sometimes.
