It is a learning process Axel. It takes time, it is not something that happens overnight. Additionally, please know that you are never expected to put up with verbal abuse, name calling and so on. You are entitled to set boundaries with your sufferer with regards to their behaviour. You may tell them their words hurt, and remove yourself from the situation, go to another room, go out for a walk, whatever works for you. Usually the sufferer is taking things out on you because you are the closest person to them. It is an old cliche however true, that we always hurt the ones we love most. In any event, welcome to the forum, lovely to have you. Perhaps you would like to share a bit of your situation with us? Take good care.
