General Treading Lightly? Hubby Moody

Hubby had to go for a Glucose Tolerance test and the Doc wants to talk to him about his results. The Doc warned him about 4 years ago that he was a candidate for diabetes if he didnt change his ways. Well that hasnt happened to much. So we see Doc on Wednesday to find out results. Diabetes? Just add it on to the list of things wrong with him:dont-know
Jen

Hubby found out he had type 2 diabetes about a year before his accident so we were just getting things under control with his diabetes meds.
With all the meds he's on now, it has made things a bit up & down with his sugar. We are lucky that all his docs are aware of what he is on so they can keep an eye out on things.
Just lock up the chocolates & keep them all for yourself ;)

I wont be buying any more chocs Jods if I do I will hide them. He goes wandering in his sleep and I will quite often find empty choc and bikky wrappers in the kitchen.
He doesnt remember doing this so I will take the temptation away?
Jen

Good thing you have your own room now to hide all that yummy chocolate!
Is he on stillnox? I know hubby was doing the midnight munchies without knowing while he was on that.

Hope you are getting stronger each day & getting closer to that round of golf.

Hi Jods yep he is still on stillnox. We go and see Doc this morning about the blood tests.
I am starting to walk around the golf course with the girls once a week not hitting the ball yet I dont feel that will be for a while.
I am back at work for a few hours here and there!
Jen

Hope the blood tests came back ok for your hubby. If you can, try to see if you can get your hubby off the stillnox. My hubby started to do some strange stuff in the middle of the night & I told his doc I wanted him off them. It may be why your hubby has gained weight also due to the midnight munchies that he would have no idea that he is doing.

I'm really glad to hear that you are getting out & about with the girls & slowly getting back to work, thats great news!

Well the results confirm that he has diabetes after the Doc told him all the horror stories that could happen to him if he doesnt change his ways it will be interesting to see what will happen?
I will provide the right foods for him.
Doc said he must start walking as he does no exercise he wants him to lose 8 kilos.
He is on heaps of different tablets just to add to all the other ones he is on.
We have to go and see a couple of specialists.
Its not serious enough yet to have insulin injection but as Doc said it is up to him to change his lifestyle so he wont have to!
I can only do so much the rest is entirely up to him?
Jen

Hi Jen
So does he have type 2? Thats what hubby has. It's a catch 22 when it comes to the diet changes, some low fat stuff has heaps of sugar at times. I remember my first shopping trip took longer because I spent more time reading the labels than putting things in the trolley lol.
It will be hard to lose the weight. Rob has put on weight since he has been on some of his ptsd meds because they are a side effect.
Have you got a dog?
You are right it is up to him because you cant control what he choses to put in his mouth (socks are a good idea at times lol)

Hope you are doing well, big hugs!

Hi Jods I am not real sure if it was type 2? He doesnt have to have a needle?
Actually I just the prescription he has it is for Formet 500 which the info sheet says is for type 2 diabetes.
He doesnt exercise at all we have a couple of little dogs who are dying to go for walks so maybe this is their chance:think:
Does your Hubby take any meds for his diabetes?
Jen

Hi Jen
Yeah hubby is on formet, but he's on 1000, it was twice a day but it has just gone up to 3 times a day (when we remember the lunch one) & he's on amaryl & disprin for it.
Your hubby should get a blood glucose tester so he can check his sugar. They are pretty easy to use once you get use to them.
Hope your dogs get the chance to take your hubby for a walk.

Hi Jods yeh we are going to see the specialist and will get the tester then they said but he cant get in until September.
Is your hubby ok with his diet? Does he watch his sugar intake?
Jen
