When will the US confront domestic violence? Religion and immigrants the big issue not what happens at home, or in the work place. How many domestic partners have died since 9/11. How many raped, children molested? When will someone in 'power have the guts to address those issues?

"In all, an average of at least 760 Americans are shot to death by current or former partners each year, a 2016 Associated Press analysis of national and state law enforcement data found. These numbers are probably an undercount, since not all agencies provide data. Nearly 75% of the victims in domestic violence shootings are the current wives or girlfriends of the men who killed them, the Associated Press found. Shooting deaths of men are much less frequent.

"Only about one in 10 of these mass-injury shootings involved domestic violence, the Times found. But the domestic violence shootings were more deadly than the other attacks. Domestic violence shootings represented only 11% of the incidents, but 31% of the victims who died.

Even when domestic violence does not play a direct role in high-profile mass shootings, the perpetrators of these attacks are often found to have records of domestic violence and abuse of women."

Domestic violence and guns: the hidden American crisis ending women's lives

Politicians don't really care as they realize most of the time it was the person choice to stay with the abuser. Obviously there's times where the victim couldn't leave cause the abuser would threaten to come after them or their families but these are not very common. Most of the time when domestic violence ends in tragedy and you take a look the to the relationships past there was years of opportunity for the victim to leave and most of the time had plenty of friends and family to fall back on. You can't help some who doesn't want help, though. Allot of the time if the abuser gets in trouble the victim goes and bails them out or drops the charges. It's not the worlds responsibility for everyone to put there lives on pause to try to force someone out of a relationship. Of course there's shockholm but not many know about it and there's not much you can do the help someone with it. You can only really encourage them to leave and tell them you'll be there for them if they need you. And 760 is not very high, remember the US is a huge and over populated country. Luckily we do have more celebs coming out about it and more programs to help but sadly not much can be done but there's definitely more that can be done than is. The worlds progressing quicker then ever but there's only so many problems we can deal with at once. Like riot said it's not really an issue thats big enough to be on the front lines right now.

Yes, this is a horror show! Seems to indicate that if you're female, having a boyfriend or a husband is a mighty dangerous endeavor. Why is this crazy pattern occurring in which a guy snaps and then murders his wife/girlfriend, all the kids, some of her coworkers, and even the family dog? In this most recent one the guy showed up at ex-wife's workplace, murdered her, then didn't he injure or kill at least one child where she works? Jesus Christ! What in the heck is wrong with these guys?

2/3 domestic homicides are committed with kitchen knives. Only one third are with firearms.

Sorry but when I look at stats I like to see the whole picture, not a third of it. That's how you shed light on injustice.

North America needs to crack down on domestic violence and start providing protection for all abuse victims. And make the resources better known.

Sorry but...

Are you quoting Canadian stats?

Canada is VERY different than the USA when it comes to gun death stats.

It's incredibly misleading to lump all of North America together.

PS ignore whatever my flag says. I'm an American.

North America in general. In the states it's pretty much the same. But some states are far worse. Speci...

Reference?

I've heard many times that the USA is different than Canada in terms of attitudes towards guns and gun violence statistics. I think if you're going to argue that the USA is the same as Canada, you should be able to show the statistics reflecting such instead of just lumping us all together because we're on the same continent.
