I had my neurology appointment today and I thought it was great because today was one of my worst pain days ever. So hey I thought finally the doc would get with the program and perscribe some really good pain cocktail for the RSD. HAHAHAHAHAHA, I was actually Afraid of her when she started spouting this WEIRD CRAP! I am a person that has always believed in homeopathic remedies when fitting, but for the extent of my pain today which has been increasing over the past few weeks, I know that homeopathy is not the way to go because is takes time. You NEED SOMETHING to get you through the worst so you can add that type of remedy, it does not work right away. Well for some reason either she has been sampeling the drugs she perscribes or she has lost her mind totally, she told me she wanted to send me to a specialist 200 miles from my home, which is not doable because I could never ride in a car that long unless totally sedated, and she said this doctor specializes in GET THIS HOLISTIC HEALING:cuckoo: :cuckoo: :cuckoo:
Please understand I agree with that method BUT it has served no purpose in my pain management to this date so YES I NEED A PAIN MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST. She ordered more EEG's more MRI's and brain scans and all I asked for was something to at least get me through the worst parts of the pain, SHE PERSCRIBED ME NOTHING she told me to buy neproxine OTC. Ok well I could understand that if I was on all kinds of meds from the start but I WAS NOT, I was very careful what I would allow them to give me. Elivil is not handeling the pain anymore even at increased doses, so I thought she would give me percocet or something. Well I was so upset I left and went right to the ER that doctor who had no clue but was compasionate enough gave me a shot of demoral and just now I am waking up from it. IT was a very BIG BANDAID of sorts and at least I got a few hours of relief. I am getting rid of this doctor she is not looking out for my best interest at all. I am having my neuro Psychiatrist refer me to someone else or to a pain clinic. How the hell are you suppose to forget the trauma at the root of your PTSD when your pain symptoms remind you VERY LOUDLY OF IT EACH AND EVERY DAY????????????????? Today was a VERY BAD DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

    Damn!!

Nothing like a doc who tries the drugs before they prescribe it!

Did you tell her, "You're Fired!", before you left her office? I would've.

I hate it when I feel like docs are jerking us around and wasting our time. I hate it when they don't take what we are telling them seriously. I hate that we have to go from doctor to doctor to doctor, just to get our needs met, because some arrogant a**hole of a doctor won't come down off his/her high horse to listen and actively take part in the human race.

And suggesting you drive 200 miles for help? I don't think so! Perhaps she would volunteer to take you...at her expense....ha ha ha!! Yeah...right...

    I'm sorry, Sibe...really I am.

I appreciate your response and can not agree with you more. I am just coming off the demoral and starting to get very angery, because OH YES The pain is starting to break through. I talk about being medication free and I was EXCEPT FOR THE ELIVIL that is the only thing that I was still taking because at first it did help. At increased doses it causes heart palpitations. I do not want that. She could have seen that my pain was real after they took my BP because I always have low BP's today it was 144 over 98 OMG what did she want to let me explode??????????????? I mean it's one thing to handle the PTSD either with just talk therapy or combined with drugs which for me really did not help that much, but then to have some IDIOT who knows I have NOT gotten any better in over a year tell me to go to a HOLISTIC HEALER What the HELL! YOU WAIT until my shrink hears this one he is goint to FLIP!!!!!!

    Hands over the drugs. . . . .

Why do they not realise that we really don't exadurate shit like this????

Reminds me of when my sis almost died. Doc thought she was putting on the chest pain (she was put on antibiotics for bronchitis).
She ended up with three blood clots on her left lung :eyeroll:

Ummm ask her when she suffers head injury would that be what she is going to do??? Did she explain why she wasn't giving it to you? (sorry if injury is wrong, so many new people and my own shit hard to line it up.) May have to start my own little notebook of simplified obvious issues on here so I keep up to match the user. War/rape/molest /injury types causes... for my own references.

One thing I noticed, the more docs I saw and the more I said I don't want dope the faster they wrote scripts. I swear I have more dope in my house than any dealer, came in handy when I had a full script of a med I stopped taking and my buddy who is on it (ativan) had his idiot teen son steal it to sell. Yeah yeah don't share drugs... But my bud and I knew he would never ask, he was just pissed he could not reach doc and almost killed the 17 yo. I was giving it to him and he hangs on to it for emergencies now, like if his step son gets stupid again.

Maybe she is thinking you are not smart enough to understand her reasoning or have you been displaying such an anti med attitude (has opposite effects on my docs) she is trying to do what she think you want? Or did you go in and say listen bitch I am dying in pain, give me something or I will send your ass OTC? If and when you go back I would have the paper work showing you went and had to be shot up with demerol.

Them yanking you around for a real and intense pain is BS. Too bad you are not around here, I have plenty I refused to take LOL.

Hope you find a new doc pronto! At least make her explain WHY you can't have it. No kickback this month? what? Has to be a reason somewhere. Maybe the pain is better right now than draw back taking it? Hell I don't know, tons of injured people and they get drugs to control the pain and pain sucks like a mo fo!

If she is ignorant and an ass take my attitude "break a boot off in her ass". Then again I have not been thinking right recent so maybe not good idea.

I believe you were thinking very clear when you responded to my post. You expressed exactly how I feel and right now the pain is back with a vengance so when my hubby gets up and after my kiddo is off to school we are going BACK TO THE ER. Then THEY CAN GET IN TOUCH WITH THIS WITCH DOCTOR and see how she expects me to deal. They told me if I was still in bad shape today to come back and they would do what they could to help me. That ER doc was pretty disgusted with my PSYCHIC HEALER OF A NEUROLOGIST so that is my plan. I even called my therapists crisis number last night because I was beside myself, not suiciadal more on the homocidal side because I could not sleep I could not lay down so I rested most of the night in my massage chair with the heat on FULL BLAST!!!!! I refuse to have another night like last night because somehow I do not believe this is good for my emotional health.

Update::::: My doc rearranged his schedule to get me in yesterday he is a great doctor. He went over my BRAIN FILMS with me, and took great time in showing me and explaining everything. My patient advocate went with me so that I had another set of unbiased ears and eyes LOL. Because my doc is a Neuro Psychiatrist he knows all aspects of my problems. So now I have FIRED the other NUT JOB, and he will be in charge of not only treatment for the PTSD but treatment for the Neurological problems. He is NOT redoing the Neuro Psych exam at this time because untill we can get the Pain backed off to a degree of not making me INSANE, there would be no point. He also has a very strong opinon of Neuro Psych testing and says yes it is helpful but it leaves to much open ended opinon to not only the person giving the test but the person reading the test I was told this before by a consulting neuro psychiatrist that they to do not use that type of testing as a KNOW ALL for their diagnosis. I guess because of where the damage to my brain is, in the frontal lobe all kinds of WEIRD AND INTERSTING symptoms can be seen and they flucuate because of over stressing that particular part of the brain. I really like this doc and I should have been smarter and just let him deal with ALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL of my problems but NOW I KNOW LOL. He did give me a script for some pain pills of course knowing full well how I feel about meds, he said just take them when you feel you can not handle it anymore with breathing, relaxation, massage etc... He is very good about not pushing meds on me that would be all I would need is to become an addict on top of everything else. He told me to that treating a patient with an obvious brain injury is a very tricky thing to do because the combination of medications have to be precises as to not cause worse symptoms, and he does not have a problem adding in something HOLISTIC later on but only AFTER a complete diagnosis is made and then ONLY ADDING IN WHAT IS MEDICALY PROVEN to help. NOW SEE that makes sense. The scare tissue is not ever going to go away, it can not be removed so we have to handle this very carefully and with everything else that is wrong with me he has his work cut out for him, but that is why he gets paid VERY WELL LOL. I have another EEG on the 10th and probably another MRI to follow to see if anything got bigger or if more areas show signal abnormalities. OH WELL I have nothing better to do LOL.

Neuro Psych Evals & Head Injuries

Hurray! I too have a NeuroPsych doc as my primary. It makes all the difference in the world; he is not afraid to try things that obviously make my family physician very uncomfortable. Thank goodness for specialists!

I had a neuro psych eval about 8 months after my head injury. It was read and interpreted by 3 different doctors who all came up with the same conclusion. I have problems with cognitive things like word finding, multi-tasking and such. It was nice to get validation that I wasn't going crazy or that it wasn't related to meds I was taking. Plus I had cognitive rehab that gave me some really good tools to work around my barriers. It also gives your healthcare team a baseline. If they decide to repeat the testing later, they will have a clear indication if the brain damage is better, worse, or unchanged.
Good luck on your upcoming EEG and MRI too!

Ah.... yes, specialists, now your talking. Isn't it funny how a Psychiatrist will try and tell you that the specialist Neuro Psychiatrist is wrong? Which one do you really think knows the brain inside out, back to front? Not the Psychiatrist with the 3 year degree, certificate and handshake to go fu*kup people's minds...
