DoorDash and Disability - Approved whilst working as a contractor?

Bumping this up and adding some detail. I’ve been fired from another job for attendance issues. I know, it’s bad. I just can’t do it anymore. I tried applying for disability while working but couldn’t get approved because of work. So I want to try again. But I need some kind of income to keep on meds and therapy and living. Is doordash or other contract based work considered employment that would bar me from being approved?

I think the rules are different depending on where you live. Here, it isn't the type of job; it's the amount of money that you make. Or that might be after, I don't remember. But I do know that here, if you are holding down a job, it's hard to get approved. Which makes it sooo hard, 'cause what the heck are you going to live on?

From what I understand, here in the states at least you can't get approved while holding down a job and once you get disability you can't make over a certain amount of outside income. I think, I can't remember. Which is so irritating because I've lost my job (which was full time so while at it I couldn't get anywhere with disability). But this means I have to find some other way of paying bills and keeping up with therapy and doctor visits which insurance from the full time job was paying for but now I'm going to heavily rely on DoorDash because at least there if I need a day off I can take it with no real repercussions. But I'm afraid its going to look like I'm holding down a job again, but they don't seem to understand that its a massive fight within myself just to leave the house. I haven't ever "held down" a full time job more than a few months in my entire working life. I wish they could see that and understand that instead of oh she's working so she doesn't need anything. Sorry, I'm unloading on you and that's not fair. I apologize, I'm just frustrated with this whole system. You need doctors on board to be able to tell them what's going on but you can't pay for the doctors because you can't have a job.

Oh yeah, I totally get it. My therapist has recommended disability a few times, but I can't afford what it takes to apply so I'll be accepted, nor can I afford to do it emotionally.

The whole system is designed to discourage health and care for the folks who most need it.
