Research Interesting, Research That Probiotics Reduce Anxiety

Received an article by email about probiotics also reducing allergy symptoms. I have flown in the face of the medical paradigm for 12 years now cuz I am beating my prognosis... with probiotics. If you like I'll shoot you the article.

Thanks for the post. *runs off to take her probiotics*

But seriously, I have recently discovered a very real connection between my GI tract and anxiety. I am taking amino acids which have tremendously helped my anxiety....I have no clue what the actual mechanism is, but the amino acid I am taking is known for improving the GI tract, and based on other non-PTSD symptom improvement, I have found this to be true.

I'd love to be able to find a doc who knows about all of these links. My anxiety is very much related to my GI tract. I have anxiety spikes after eating. (And its not in an eating disorder "I am getting fat" sort of way.) I fear even looking for a doc because I don't want to be pigeonholed and dismissed. It feels like I'm throwing darts in the dark, trying to figure out what is what, and avoiding the bad side effects of supplements (which have been quite severe, unfortunately).

Thanks again for the link.

I'll shoot you the article.
Yes please @The Albatross I would like that. I know in Australia there has now been successful trials on peanut allergy and immunotherapy with peanut flour but combined with giving the children large doses of probiotics to ensure the immune system is healthy. So far the trials have worked and children who previously had anaphylaxis to the tiniest amounts of peanuts are able to tolerate even eating peanut butter.

@itsKismet I'd be really interested in what proteins you are taking. For years I suffered from really horrific IBS. And it is definitely anxiety linked. 2 way street I think. I used to have to travel to work in absolute agony on the train, and knew where every toilet was and would be running to get there, sometimes. That of course would make travelling to work and travelling anywhere mean I would get even more anxious.

Be interested, I take Yakult, but maybe I should be taking a higher dose pill or something. The IBS has calmed interestingly that developed after my ex became violent. Since I got rid of him that is much better.

But my whole body seems to be hostage to anxiety. Seems my muscles are so tensed up. I am suffering the consequence of all of this now, with my back.
