Childhood Anyone know anything about C-PTSD ?

Hey Crushed, thanks for the reality check. What I struggle with is people around saying "just snap out of it." or "I would never have let that happen to me." then I say "What age 6 you could stop someone hitting you with a metal bar ?" and they're "But there's no metal bar now.". lol. Then you...

Loud sounds from cutting tree behind of my building

PTSD gives us hypervigilance. So we can become very sensitive to sound etc.. I tend to be sensitive to light, car lights hurt my eyes. Or temperatures. Nothing wrong with that, work on the hypervigilance, or hypersensitivity. Or, as the last poster suggested, avoid it. Or ear plugs ?

I feel like I'm having a groundhog anxiety day...

Would problem solving help you right now ? PTSD makes us amplify worries, could that be at play here ? Have you consider self employment as well as employment ? I run a business and I would take a chance trialing someone for a day or week, more readily than I would employ someone. I get people...

I feel like I'm having a groundhog anxiety day...

So sorry to hear you are struggling. It sound only too familiar to me, I used the to do list, and the “do one thing at a time” approach. I hear your frustration because it does feel like a momentous task. What helped me, was being told to stop fighting it – i.e. being frustrated with how long it...

    Tips on regulation?

Hi Hopefulphoenix, @RuffledFeathers visualising putting it in a box sounds a great technique. @Muttly I’ve been running off music, comedy and art also. I find anything that lowers your general stress level helps: swimming, walking in the country, I have relaxation CD I listen too. Because...

Is this CPTSD or something else ?

@blackemerald1 thanks again for you kind words. I notice in America there are more specialisms, when I asked my Dr why not in the UK, she snapped back "Because they pay for it." So I guess everyone in the NHS must be working for free then. lol. I believe America spends four times what we do, so...

Is this CPTSD or something else ?

Thanks @blackemerald1, I appreaciate the feeback. The obvious thing was that after the majour stresses subsided, I got better quiet rapidly. My T had told me CBT doesn't work if you are adjitated. Maybe it was that. As for my inlaws with peronality disorders, well Trump, Myra Hyndly etc...

Is this CPTSD or something else ?

Hi I fell ill 16 years ago, took 3 months off came back part times, eventual OK after 6 months. Four years ago I had another breakdown, but this time it was diagnosed as C-PTSD and I learnt my mother was BPD and bro was NPD. They abused me as a child. 4 years ago I had a second breakdown, 4...

Did you ever try to go back to work?

@Stephernovas I took 3 months off and then was allowed come back part time. However I was the second most senior officer in the company and when I came back I was sidelined. Not required in the board room. lol. Another consideration is self employment, which is what I do now. I advise rather...

Still can't work - having a hard time talking about it with pdoc/t - considering disability - help

Great news @Sweetleaf. Does this mean you now have letters after your name SSI, SSDI ? I'm impressed.

Still can't work - having a hard time talking about it with pdoc/t - considering disability - help

Sweetleaf, if you broken both legs in a skiing accident, people would not begrudge you a wheelchair, even thought it was technically your fault. Here, it isn't your fault you got PTSD, so you are even more deserving. Humans contribute each according to their ability and each according to their...

    Online Dating Services?

Newish to this, but so far I’m been approached by a few fake profiles, the first had a picture of a lady off a shampoo bottle and the second used an Actress's. Oddly enough those were the only two models that ever messaged me. Another tip is be wary if someone avoids talking on the phone, in...

Medical cannabis now available in the UK.

Don't mind at all. It ran in three national newspapers (google the news). I then rang my local GP who sternly told me off, because its illegal. I've worked within the NHS, so I know they hide new stuff as new = more risk and extra training. Also C-PTSD isn't recognised by the NHS, mainly...

Medical cannabis now available in the UK.

I know the GP pharmacies and Dr practice are currently training in this. Ironically its manufactured in the UK and is low cost, so can't see there being a postcode lottery with this. But GPs are super busy, and MS was the initial trial in the UK, but there is a big body of evidence that it...

Has Anyone Else Done EMDR On Body Memory?

@Missycat Thanks for the feedback. I was on "waiting lists for 10 years. I had to have a serious breakdown, off work 6 months, before I got anything. You're right, they seem clueless about CPTSD, maybe I should present as PTSD and an Army vet, because my local trauma center seems perplexed as to...
