Hi guys
Anyone here know much about risperidone ?
Today the psychiatrist gave us a prescription for risperidone and the side effects are very scary.... this drug is suppose to stop nightmares and hallucinations and when I asked the doctor if many people are taking it he said "half the population".... ! :(
I would really welcome any feedback.
My long term suffering hubbie is exhausted and doesn't want to live anymore... but after reading the side effects he is saying he doesn't want to try this medication.
Thank you amazing people.

Sunshine

I am on it and have been for a while. It works like magic, although I have the occasional bad nightmare, it does not enter my memory upon waking, further haunting me for the rest of the day either. I do not know about hallucinations because I do not have them. I wish you well in this one.

Thats amazing - thank you so much Rain xxxxx
May I ask if you have put any weight on as this seems to be common.... my hubbie wants to avoid this.... however I feel it is a small price to pay if it stops the nightmares - THANK YOU so much Sunshine xxxx

No I have not put on weight from it at all. It really does work and I forgot to add that in case I do remember a fragment of the nightmare it gives me amnesia almost right away and I forget all about it. I used to have this horror filled nightmares so much and I called them my night life because I have had so many. It really has made my life so much better than it was before and I notice that I sleep better too.

Most drugs have the potential to put on weight. I don't think this should be a deciding factor considering that it can take a long time to find the right drug that works for you. I'm fortunate that all my meds are weight neutral but even if they weren't, I'd still take them.
