Readers thread: what or who are you reading right now?

Just (finally) finished reading Stolen Tomorrows: Understanding and Treating Women's Childhood Sexual Abuse by Steven and Abby Levenkron

Just recently checked out:
DNA Is Not Destiny: The Remarkable, Completely Misunderstood Relationship Between You and Your Genes by Steven J. Heine
(and for a second time) Food Energetics: The Spiritual, Emotional, and Nutritional Power of What We Eat by Steve Gagne'

In between books that can actually capture and keep my attention I love reading more online about how to grow, identify, multiply, and better fuel my cell-ph by plant life of many varieties and whatever else distracts me along the way. If only I could retain it all.

Right now I'm reading Tourist Season by Carl Hiaasen.

It's about some serial killers in Florida. It's a different style of writing for a mystery/thriller than I'm used to so I find it refreshing.

I never could read as a child. I had DID and PTSD. Together they made reading almost impossible. I'd lose my place while reading all too often and give up. My grades reflected my inability to read well.

It wasn't until I started writing that I started reading. It was recommended. Then I had to find my genre. That was difficult at first until I found something I'm familiar with; thrillers about serial killers.

One of my favorite books which I come back to often is Judith Herman's Trauma and Recovery. I first tried reading it in 1997 when it first came out. I slogged through it back then. It's a much easier read now.
