Confident
I know I avoid uncomfortable things. Which for me is everything, and everyone. It's strange and frightening to know you are in a nose dive, but the thought of getting help brings me such terror for some reason. I feel the same way about going to the doctor. Hell, I even feel that way about going to the grocery store. I don't really know what to do about it. I know my PTSD is really bad, but how does one get help when help is terrifying? Not just fear, but paralyzing terror.

I still feel that way aswell, I used to be really stressed and paranoid about going to the doctors. But I'm alot better now. A support worker once said to me about "therapy", it's just a conversation. A very true statement. Try to get help and if you suffer from ptsd and mental illness then you'll probably have alot of issues bubbling under the surface so just take it one step at a time.

It takes time to heal and recover but each little step forward is progress. And remember... its just a conversation!

Where can you get help from?

What's your support network like? Family, friends etc?

I don't have people to talk to. I'm not close with anyone. I have a huge problem talking to people. I get in a weird trance like state, and I can never really convey what I'm thinking. It doesn't seem to apply to text though. I have no idea why. Thank you for taking the time to respond. I appreciate it.

Thank you. I'll give this a read after work. I appreciate it.

hello jess. welcome to the forum. sorry for what brings you here but glad you are here.

gentle empathy on the doctor phobia. for me, it has herstorically been medical pros who trigger my doctor phobia, but since psych pros have started wearing surgical masks and enforcing unexpected mandates, i can't seem to handle them any more, either.

finding words for my phobias and paranoia is always my first step toward tackling them. once i can speak the fear, ways to overcome the fear seem to follow.

steadying support while you find your words for ^it^. welcome aboard.
