Confident
Hi,

During the last 4 days I had 2 sessions and yesterday I was exhausted so I slept for 13 hours.

Is this normal?

Does this mean I need to give myself more time before starting to werk again?

Looking forward to feedback..

Thanks.

Totally normal. Trauma therapy is often exhausting (mentally, emotionally, certainly; but also physically if you’re dealing with muscle shaking, heart racing, adrenaline crashes, etc,), painful, stressful / fills the old StressCup right on up, list goes on.

How do you mean?
- Job Work v Trauma Work
- If your job, what are you doing presently? IE do you do therapy over your weekend, or before/after/during your workday?
- If trauma work, what’s your usual spacing that this is deviating from?

I am currently applying for a new job opp and would like to know if I have to give myself more time before starting to work again.

Thx for the feedback.

it's normal-for-me. unpacking emotional baggage is the hardest work i've ever done in my diverse career.

in my own case, it typically passes quickly. a day or two of extra rest and i am good to go. when necessary, i can push my way through the exhaustion on autopilot. it has even worked to my advantage to be too exhausted to over-think every little detail.

For me it would depend on whether the job added to or decreased my stress levels, provided balance and stability to my life or not, and how I could arrange my prep/therapy/hangover time in relation to those things.

Some jobs are going to make my life better, and therapy easier.
Some jobs are going to make my life worse, and therapy harder.

Similarly, some therapy schedules are going to make me a better employee, others will get me fired lickety split.

Lotta moving parts.

No matter what, though? There’s going to be an adjustment period.
