Hi! Although it sucks it happened, it’s really nice to meet someone else with a similar experience.
I’ve explored this possibility with my therapist (we did a longitudinal formulation as part of my CBT work) and she says that there are some previous experiences that accentuated my reaction and...
...like a panic attack, where our sympathetic nervous system spikes. And all the other activities in the brain (like intrusive thoughts and paranoia) are basically put on ice until that passes.
The rest of the time, our amygdala continues to control waaaaay more of our thought processes than...
...you're careful taking thyroid meds, they shouldn't have the kind of extreme response like the adderal tho, or the extreme side-effects, like paranoia.
Taking T4 thyroid meds is a gentler effect, if you want a bit more bang for your buck, T3 thyroid meds are worth a try (tho they'll have...
...financial aid, you cannot see your doctor until you pay for the surgery you didn’t get, etc. etc. etc.
The fail safe is partly a Skynet-Paranoia, wanting to give human operators more power over the machine, and partly because it’s so damn easy to clone anyone’s phone/device, and have their...
Ah, thanks for all the info. So it's impossible to have intrusive thoughts during a fight or Flight correct? Well a follow up question I have is, during a fight or Flight response, do any "intrusive" things happen? Whether they be images, or similar?
..."we have the truth and everyone else doesn't/are sheeple/don't understand/need to wake up".
Pardon me for assuming, but anxiety and even paranoia often wants to be confirmed, unless you make a conscious effort to try and correct it and/or shift focus. Politics is just a game, essentially...
Hello and welcome to myptsd.com. I want to say how grateful we are that you've decided to share your story with us. It's important to remember that trauma is incredibly personal, and comparing your situation with others doesn't lessen the impact it's had on you. What you've gone through is...
Not sure what my point is here. This is the question, I think. How do you know when hypervigilance crosses into paranoia? Can you be paranoid when the threat is real or is that just appropriate hypervigilance?
Sorry for being abstract and not getting into specifics.
This is my first time stumbling on this forum. I had a weird yet familiar type of day. I left the lights on on my car. Long story short, I had to get a ride home from some strangers(they were a very nice family). I got home and asked my neighbors if they would run me back to my car an give me a...
...suggest that the amygdala actually plays a huge part in that cognitive experience! Those types of experiences, intrusive thoughts, paranoia, etc, are too-much amygdala,
Fight/flight is actually a description of something happening in an entirely different system.
That doesn’t mean the 2...
I guess it depends on the scenario.
Take for example someone who’s in the army at war, or in a gang fighting against rival gangs potentially facing serious injury or death.. all the people in that environment will be in a hyper vigilant state, it’s a matter of life and death.
In a survival of...
...have a long way to go.
My friend has mentioned that I may need to just stop chatting with them and heal as its triggering me. Im thinking about it as I swing wildly through trauma and paranoia to maybe feeling a lot for him (think this is more a trauma response). Im all sorts of messed up...
...had to spend years homeless/jobless, or underemployed, because my judgment simply could not be trusted.
Same as there is zero benefit to paranoia, but tremendous …possible, depending on the realities of one’s life… benefit to various levels of personal security.
Big damn difference to...
...five people... how is that almost everyone? That is insane. Can't believe you said that. Some of the stuff I'm reading here, is rhetoric, paranoia and good old propaganda. Just leftist propaganda and not right propaganda. Same old though, propaganda attached to political ideology.
Where has...
...look like masked in polite society.
No, most cluster B are not malignant. Malignant is an additional identifier (in NPD to include sadism & paranoia; in other disorders qualifiers include other things; like violent & unstable).
Tons of NPD people? Are perfectly lovely. Many of whom go to...
...and have no problems with masking. But being unable to get care that will prevent you from yeeting yourself off a building because of COVID paranoia? People should NOT be dying 4 years out because we have to protect others when someone has the g’damned sniffles. 🙄
People need to be outraged...
...freeze) or I can be action-oriented, opinionated, pro-active (when I'm in the fight response).
I can overly worry to the point of mild paranoia that "bad things will happen" but I see that as a trauma symptom, that is sometimes present, but not always.
I dunno... these PD's just feel like a...

I found a few strains in the 12-15% range that got me just as altered as other stuff at way higher THC levels with way less paranoia etc.
Becoming tolerant and increasing usage is responsible for most of the problems people have, and if it helps - then you don't want to add...
...that i wanted nothing. Nothing at all. I just wanted to be left alone to stew in my misery like i was born for it. During lock down when the paranoia was at its peak. I wanted to hurt people. Kept getting kicked out of stores for not wearing masks. Stock piled canned goods, you know, just in...
What happens when your "conspiracy theories" start being reported on by mainstream media? Are they "conspiracy theorists" too. I've never considered myself a conspiracy theorist. I hear things from both sides and look for the source. I used to listen to npr more than anything until Diane reames...
Oh and AGAIN they tore my uterus and my vagina but neglected to tell me... I had to find it in my notes. The one doctor said the pain I was and still have was the knot from my stitches.
I can only have c sections of I can still get pregnant. The procedure that has me suicidal having flashbacks...

Be critical of where and who you get your information from. We have ptsd, and so managing our hypervigilence and paranoia means being really cautious about blanket emotional statements we throw out at other groups of people.
