My biggest successes didn't start out that way. I had to fall flat on my face to pick myself up. Got relieved of duty (the movie version is taking your gun and badge, which they did but I've got extras of both....) for going off on a LT. and threatening to kick his butt. The Lt. I couldn't stand...
One of the reasons I logged on.
An american comic (George Carlin) one time proposed that we substitute the word KILL with the word F**K. Try it it's funny. On a more serious note substitute KILL with LOVE. Substitue dangerous weapons with squirt guns. If it were that easy.
I'm gone for a couple of days and you guys have a shootout. I have to laugh though. With all this hoopla nobody thought about the fact that anger is a BIG part of PTSD. LMAO (in a good way). My dad always taught me never to discuss religion or politics in mixed company. Lets all just have a good...
This guy is a local homeless that I befriended several years ago (actually I had arrested him). Over the years Iv'e got to know him pretty well and look out for him (Food, clothes, a hotel room when the weathers really bad but he won't stay inside, yatta, yatta). He has family in another state...
I know this may sound stupid and the answer is prolly obvious but here goes.
Why is it that I have gotten PTSD from some incidents and there were other cops or EMTs there but some of them don't seem to be effected by them as I am. I'm sure it's got to bother them but they don't show it or they...
For a long time now I've been on the ferge of crying at stupid little things, even funny movies. I know deppression does this but does PTSD. I don't think I'm too deppressed. Thoughts anybody ?
Doc gave me Inderal (used for high blood pressure) about a month ago. I thought it wasn't doing any good. He uped the dose to 40mg and the anxiety level dropped about half way. It was almost like taking a valium without the drowsey. You might wan't to check into it.
Hey Guys, I go back to work in the morning. Kinda scared kinda nervous. I have been off work for more than a year. A few things have changed at the police dept. since I've been off. Most of them just BS which is one of my bigger stressors. I know how I'll handle it, cool with that. They told me...
Did pretty good last week but Friday I found out that an old (police) partner was killed in a car accident after work. She was a good friend. It's kinda different (a partner Vs friend), maybe more like family. After I found out about Connie being killed I had a scheduled Psyc. visit. All I could...
I concerned that being male if I comment on a female's post about a rape if it would make that person feel uncomfortable me being male. Iv'e seen too many victims of rape and I do really care but I don't want to make things worse.
Went to the Psychologist today. During the conversation I told him that I joined a PTSD forum. I didn't know whether or not to tell him about it B/C I was sure he would put it down. I was WRONG. He said it might even speed my progress up some to see others have similar problems with PTSD. He...
I have been to so many doc's the last 2 weeks if I see one more stethoscope I'll puke. The psychiatrist and psycologist say we need to change my psyc meds, again. The neuro doc's (4) can't seem to come to any conclusion on the seizures except they ruled out it's psyc related. Still facing knee...
After all the training I've had and studying I've done sometimes I just want to hear it from someone else who might know how it feels. At the moment and other times when I get jumpy, My lips tingle, my shoulders tingle and of course I have a fullness in my chest. When it really cranks up every...
Last night I went to the corner store to pick up soft drinks. As I parked in front of the house an SUV turned into the cove pretty fast, put the head lights on bright, drove on the wrong side of the road toward my house. The SUV stopped in front of my driveway and the driver jumped out and ran...
Howdy folks, an hour or so while I was NOT sleeping I asked myself what do other people with PTSD do at this hour. Found out. I am a police officer (16 yrs). Gotta back up some more. At 18 I became an EMT and worked on an ambulance for awhile, Then EMS dispatcher, EMT at the Trauma Center...
