I’ve passed the 30th anniversary of a traumatic event. on the 11th anni I got a tattoo of a Buddhist knot of eternity in the center of my upper back. It was very empowering at the time and I don’t regret it one bit. Of course I can’t exactly see it every day. I think tattoos are a wonderful...
Over the years my therapist has not really re-parented me, rather she's taught me to re-parent myself. I've learned to be the mother and father my parents haven't necessarily been for me. I come from a divorced family, and honestly, my step-dad, who passed away a year and a half ago, was the...
Had that session. Different music this time. The music has a large part in guiding the journey. I did a lot of sobbing during and after. Cathartic. Hard work. Incredibly difficult work. This was Thursday, so almost a week ago. I've opened up more with my tdoc and my partner. Actually...
I have a ketamine session tomorrow. I'm always a bit apprehensive beforehand.
I have a ride home, so that's a plus.
It will be a good thing.
Just need a good nights sleep.
I was an art major in college and had my senior show in my home which was a granny unit. Since my tdoc's office was so close, we walked up the street for her to see my paintings. That's kind of an odd thing, and very revealing, but I felt ok about it.
@FauxLiz I wish you much luck in trying this out.
I don't know how the dosages differ between different applications.
The one being considered for medical legalization, Esketamine, is intranasal, I believe.
I've only experienced sublingual losenges, and IM injections. Neither of which is...
I love that my Honey is a chef!
We have a crappy apartment kitchen, but we work well together.
We recently splurged on a beautiful salmon filet. Rubbed it with a poultry seasoning, covered it with thinly sliced lemon, and baked it in the oven. Fantastic! Last night we added the leftover...
I have an alphabet game I play in my head. Going from A to Z reciting (in my head) the first word that comes to mind beginning with each letter. Sometimes I add a theme: fruits and veggies, boys' names, girls' names, countries, cities, etc.
@Sweetleaf
I'm currently working on meditation.
My history with the practice has been iffy.
My meditative mind often leads to major panic/flashback status.
@chris Ann I used to live with a wonderful claw foot bathtub. It was in a big open room with vaulted ceiling and beams. That tub was my heaven for so many years! A hot bath helps everything for me. There is a bathtub in our current apartment, but it's shallow and stained. Ugh.
@joeylittle Interesting that the intranasal application was never suggested to me. First losenges, then IM injections. I hope you find it helpful!
A couple of times I had a really negative experience. I was curled up in fetal position completely tensed up and sobbing. Even lashing out and...
I've been doing this with my Pdoc for about 2 years, every other month or so with a regular talking session in between, and some at home by myself. After seeing him for several years, he suggested I'd be a good candidate. It is still considered experimental, so it's not covered by insurance...
I went to a Zen monestary with my mom for a new year celebration. It was pretty amazing and humbling. All the bowing for 3 days got my back seizing up. I did working meditation in the kitchen. Sitting meditation 3-4 times a day.
A great experience overall.
According to my doctors, it's actually CPTSD though the DSM doesn't recognize it. Multiple childhood traumas, mostly of the sexual kind. These I usually avoid talking about in therapy.
Hi, just joined.
I suffer from ptsd resulting from abduction and severe sexual trauma when I was 13. 25 years ago. 15 years of therapy, ongoing. More than that of meds. Psychiatrist has me on a ketamine assisted therapy thing. Sublingual losenges at home, and intramuscular injections in...
