The Hardest Thing ; Giving Up Hyper-vigilance.

This thread is very helpful. I sometimes have to tell myself “stop it, stop it” over and over in my head and it helps de-escalate the level.

Does anyone else dissociate this way?

I experience the floating from above and looking down on myself usually in therapy when I am trying to process something traumatic. I have come to accept it as apart of myself and try not to judge myself for it. I most commonly go blank, don't remember anything for several seconds or a minute. I...

    I'm not really there

You are not alone. My therapists have said dissociation is a type of coping mechanism to help our mind escape trauma. It will improve with therapy and time. Try to not be hard on yourself and have self compassion. Do some things you find comforting. For me it is cuddling with my animals or...

    Versed resistance anyone?

Thank you. I am wondering if I metabolize drugs quickly. I spoke to the doctor and he was really surpised I remembered everything. He said he hasn't given a patient 6mg of versed in 10 years. They have a lot of combat vets and other patients with PTSD that it works on as well. It helps to hear...

    Versed resistance anyone?

I am resistant to the anesthetic Versed (Midazolam). I believe it is linked to PTS. I am interested to hear if other suffers have experienced this please. This drug is commonly used for "conscious sedation" in the U.S. I get combative, feel and remember everything that occurs under this drug. I...

    Aromatherapy And Essential Oils

I do not sell essential oils and am not trying to promote a brand for profit. I bought some Blue Cypress, Peppermint and Ortho Ease from a friend (Young Living is the brand). It works amazing for pain. My husband and I both have chronic pain and this has helped tremendously. He is allergic to...

    Sudden Flood Of Suicide Ideations

@.45 Princess I am in a similar place right now but have been having identifiable triggers. Sometimes the only thing that keeps me from dying is remembering I have been here before and it got better. It is temporary as excruciatingly painful as it is. Writing lists doesn't help for me the...

    Allergy Meds Causing Panic?

Yes I have noticed it too. I thought it was just me. I really noticed it when I switched to a generic zyrtec. It has no phenylephedrine either but spikes my anxiety for about two hours.

    Neurontin (gabapentin)

I only took one capsule (100 mg) and had these freaky muscle twitches in my face and eyes. I felt dizzy and did not take it again. My stepmom is rather addicted to this not sure what dose she is on. She acts really loopy and slurs.

Abilify And Nervousness? Can't Stop Moving

I developed tardive dyskinesia on Abilify. Thankfully it was not permanent. Involuntary movements is a sign of this for me it was hand tremors. I am sure your doc talked with you about that side effect. I hope you start feeling better.

    Movie References!

Goodfellas is my go to movie when I feel really bad and need to decompress. I grew up in the NYC area with a lot of mafia around our neighborhood. In a twisted way this movie comforts me. I rarely watch movies more than once. Some others I like though: Fight Club, Twelve Monkeys, Sixth Sense...

    Depression Lied About My T

@Junebug the feeling of hopelessness that depression lies about. In this case I misread my T. No he is not perfect but what I was feeling was way off base.

    Depression Lied About My T

@EveHarrington you are correct in that he wasn't providing the therapy I was needing but that is kind of part of my point. Instead of walking away convinced he was self centered (which was partly true) it felt good to get up the courage to confront him about it. As it turned out for me...

    Depression Lied About My T

I did it, I finally said it. I have been getting frustrated with T who I have been seeing for 3 years. He has helped me through a lot of sexual abuse issues, serious suicide attempt (gun misfired) and depressions. Lately I've been frustrated with him for talking too much in sessions. I was...

My Sister And Her Cat - Feedback Requested

I am a veterinarian and please, please tell your sis it is very common to not notice cat's in renal failure by owners. Also there is nothing that can be done to prevent renal failure but there are things that can be done to prolong their life. Mainly low protein diets and occasional fluids. It...

    Worst Therapist Story

Coco9. My current T talks about himself a lot too. He has PTSD and helps me but lately I get frustrated because he talks at least half the session. I have been seeing him for three years and has helped me through some very bad stuff so I care about him and feel close. I recently asked to see his...

Has Anyone Felt Deep Psychic Pain When Severely Depressed?

Link Removed Thank you for the research and yes I do have chronic pain but this really is different. I had two herniated disks fused eleven years ago and am recently diagnosed with another which oddly enough doesn't hurt because my pain threshold is so high. I was havimg problems with my arm so...
