What is a foreign perception of New Zealand?

North Island = Pretty Maori, geysers, gloworm caves, fairyland (bay of islands), and tourists. Nice place to visit.

South Island = The southern alps, surfing, & all things right and fun :sneaky: Best place to live.

Most people here in the USA think of Lord of the Rings when you say "New Zealand." Before LOTR, they might have thought of Hercules or Xena.

To be fair, I did have a non-nightmare dream last night involving Sir Peter Jackson (LOTR director) so that's pretty accurate <shrug>

And once when I was in the US for some weeks, I became known in the local Pita Pit as "the girl from the Shire" :hilarious:
