This is probably different in different countries. In the US - the tests you describe would not be used as anything other than indicators for potential (various) diagnoses. They would not be proof of anything.SO PTSD and MDD are both HPA axis dysfunctions and can be tested to differentiate
its not the current diagnostic tool - agreed but the neuroendicrinologists are coming out fighting on this - its a bit of a turf war but basically if one psych says one thing and another says something else they can fight about it till the cows come home - if you do a test and it lines up with the peer reviewed medical research - its pretty compelling . For someone who needs a diagnosis so they can accept it and get on with understanding and coping its a good way to cut through the BS. My insurance claim is based on Californian law and the compensation is based on AMA guidelines which requires the assessor to consult the latest research. so put it in front of DRs and insurers and mothers . Basically because its not in the diagnostic and treatment manual they don't know any of it - even though much of the knowledge has been confirmed and around since 2002 and compelling reviews out in 2013.
