Lifeline is a 24-hour telephone counselling line for urgent and immediate needs.
Lifeline also offers face-to-face counselling in a number of places, which can be accessed through the telephone counselling line.
The Vietnam Veterans Counselling Service (VVCS)
The VVCS is a free and confidential service provided by the Department of Veterans Affairs. Despite the name, veterans of any conflict are welcome to attend and do not need to have a war-related disability or entitlement from the Department of Veteran's Affairs. Those who may use the services of the VVCS include Australian veterans of all conflicts and peacekeeping operations, as well as their families. VVCS will also see people with concern for a veteran's welfare who wish to seek advice. Services offered include:
* crisis counselling (face to face or telephone, and an emergency after hours toll-free telephone service);
* individual, family and group counselling;
* country outreach programs for rural Australia;
* education an informaiton reosurces (including a library);
* case managment roles;
* referrals to other treatment services.
