Hey all.

I just figured I'd put this up. I know for myself personally with many blacked out nights waking up to face consequences. My head was all contorted. I had no idea who or what I was doing anymore. Well I still don't know what exactly it is I am doing... lol but hey I feel better about myself so that's a start.

I stumbled upon this earlier.

That article is spot on in quite a few places, quite a few can be really well disagreed with (hey thanks for posting it tho) - I mean, say that 'keep going with your values, you'll never feel embarassment again' - I don't really know that. Values are tricky changeable things. Embarassment just creeps in without asking. Emotions tend to do that. Intrusive thoughts are called intrusive for a reason. People got the tendency to assess situation on some level like all of the time, unless they're unconscious, similarly incapacitated, or dead. It's part of hello, brains working. Things like that.

But hopeful messages being hopeful are good. Nothing against.

And it's cool it's helped you. Kudos! Don't let my pesimism mess with that. XD

Indeed, intrusive thoughts, embarrassment creeping in. I'm trying to work on recognizing when they hit. Not necessarily dismissing them. But studying it. It's taken a lot of time. All they are is thoughts, not actions. One thing I agree with on that article, was the thing bout honesty.
Good points Kaishi. Just trying to correct the thought process of my own by utilizing things like this to go off as reference points.
That way when those emotions or thoughts hit I can correct them.
Maybe feel a lot less anxiety.
(had to edit this after re-reading)

I liked the flowchart they put up :

Here's something I found on intrusive thoughts as well.

PTSD may not go away. But f*ck intrusive thoughts.

Yeah, makes sense to try to tackle issues from an analytic angle. After all, from that point they become less a 'danger in my head and buggy feelings all over' and more like 'whoa I actually have a clue what to do with this mess'. Reference points help, something to point to for easier explanations. Any tools help when the right ones aren't present yet, & while it may not be the same effective to open a wine bottle with a screwdriver, it could go in certain situations. I guess finding toolkit dealing with the emotional everything is no different.
