When I have an emotional flashback and really scary thoughts and feelings from the past come up I try to think a replacement thought that is peaceful but the peaceful thought doesn’t have a chance to exist for longer than a second because the flashbacks scary thoughts and feelings overwrite it and wipe them away.

i understand everyone always suggests grounding and know your triggers, but the real problem is that the peaceful feelings get wiped away and that is what i keep trying to ask you about but when you sidestep to "grounding" and "triggers" it seems like an evasion of my question
