Holiday Spirit!

My neighbor is driving me nuts about the holidays. She is angst about those who don't put up trees!

I commented I have the spirit all year! Where do you put your spirit after the Holidays?

Please share as JMHO it has nothing to do with A Religion. Love and kindness, hope!

I agree with you Whitney. I have had a lot of bad memories from Christmas. Now I just really want to make the most of it, because although I was so against it, I was really lonely when I was alone on Christmas... Now I am glad to be with family... just because. Not for religious reasons either, just to be together.

I dread getting ready for christmas but once I get moving I get into the spirit. We have to put our tree up. Mabe I will wait until I have my oldest granddaughter here for a couple of days and do it then. It would be more fun.

I decided to get our tree out and put it together. We will wait to decorate it when we have the girls. Unless I get in the spirit to do it myself. We have the tree in a good spot where we can see it from the den. I am glad I did it. It did not take very long. All of the lights work. I am glad I did it. Thanks Whitney for this thread. It got me in the mood.:D

Do you mean celebrate christmas without being religious? Is this what you mean holiday spirit?

Jaret, I knew the minute I hit post I should have better explained the OP. :) Thank you for asking.

My spirit of kindness, hope, etc., I share all year! So many people have to dig and work at finding their spirit. And a lot of people only use it at holiday times.

The question rephrased, for those that have to dig out the spirit; where do they keep it the rest of the year?

For me I have had some awful times in life. The one aspect I refuse to lose is my spirit that we can overcome those times. That in sharing we help others who are not able to find happiness, hope and healing. Hugs, Whitney

I think the New Year and Christmas, or whatever you celebrate at this time of year, is about renewed spirit. It is like recharging your batteries.

The good in me, my spirit, is there all year. This extra spirit of recharging, well this year especially, is a little more effort then I would like, but I'm getting there.

I understand your OP. It is great thought to carry the spirit. I used to do the same with Diwali, I would wait for it throughout the year. I don't know how I did so. Just had so much love for it.
