How To Battle Depression

I've noticed when it gets colder, I tend to be more down. Now I do take an antidepressant to help with that, but I worry it is not enough. Anyone you meet would tell you that I'm a bubbly, smiley person and I am, truly. However, I struggle with hiding how I actually feel particularly sadness.

Yes, I write, sing, journal, exercise, get out of the house, talk to friends & family, socialize, dance, etcetera. And I'm in school but my question is: how do I take small steps to overcome this?

It's positive that you're actively engaging in various activities like writing, singing, journaling, and exercising to manage your symptoms. It shows your dedication to self-care. However, it's concerning that you still experience sadness despite these efforts.

Have you noticed any specific triggers for your sadness during colder weather? How does this change in mood impact your daily functioning and overall well-being?

Taking small steps to overcome this could involve exploring additional coping strategies or adjusting your current ones. Have you considered mindfulness techniques, relaxation exercises, or setting specific daily goals to help you navigate through these challenging periods?

Thank you. I have never thought of that. I'll be sure to journal specific triggers of sadness during colder times. I also have a mood tracker as well which may help with that, too.

I do enjoy meditation and have thought about doing it twice a day. Once in the morning and then again in the evening.

I like the idea of setting daily goals as well. I can do this with tasks around the house and my assignments for class, too.

Journaling triggers and using a mood tracker can provide valuable insight into patterns and underlying factors contributing to your sadness during colder times. It's great that you're considering increasing your meditation practice to twice a day. Consistent mindfulness practice can be beneficial for managing mood fluctuations.

Setting daily goals, whether they are related to household tasks or school assignments, can help provide structure and a sense of accomplishment. Have you thought about incorporating self-care goals into your daily routine as well, such as spending time doing activities that bring you joy and relaxation?
