I debated posting this here, because part of me doesn’t think it’s that great of an accomplishment. Therapist would disagree though, so here I am!

I had an appointment today for a pelvic exam. It was a new doctor, but a specialist, so at least he does this all day. I had to have my therapist tell my primary care doctor about my PTSD. Today -I told this doctor.

I was so anxious in the waiting room, but I managed to breathe and use the grounding stuff from SRG. Then in the exam room, when the doctor and I were talking before the actual exam I managed to tell him that I have PTSD and about some if my anxiety.

He has ways to accommodate me in the future, managed to keep me grounded during the exam, and didn’t treat me badly after I told him. He just said he’s dealt with that before and can help me.

I’m usually so terrible about speaking up, but I finally did it! I can’t wait to tell Therapist tomorrow. :woot:

I am amazed at how good it feels. It is really empowering. I wouldn’t mind feeling like this more often. I guess, of course, there’s no guarantee I would have the same experience with others.
