Sufferer I Am Here! finally.....

I've had PTSD twice now, if that's possible. When I shut myself in my room I feel so safe. Its hard not to stash food in here so I never have to leave it, but I am at the point now where I can keep the door open a lot and never shut myself away for more than an hour and it must be for a valid reason. Now that I have written this down I see how crazy that sounds. I am so glad I found this group its taken me 20 years to get here, this is my first post

it does not sound crazy at all. some times i take down food to my office and hole my self in here for days at a time.

ptsd is some thing that can cause a lot of iselation because of the excessive stress that even every day events (talking to others, being out in the open) could cause and cause over loads.

Welcome to the forum:)

I can relate to the agoraphobia, not being able to leave my apartment. I still have to work on that each day to keep it manageable. Hope being here helps you find a way forward, and out of your room. The world can be worth checking out some days, even if it's a bit terrifying.

Thanks for letting me know that I am not alone. I have to fight isolating all the time... My relationship with my son in law was almost ruined. I didn't realize that all these years what I've been doing is every time someone shouts I turn around and run. They have been thinking all this time that I am rude and never listen. As the only living adult in my family I have learned to hide my PTSD to a point that no one even knows I have it unless I tell them. I have so much to get out and so many questions. I've been carrying around the idea that my shitty health insurance won't help me since 1995. And then I find this forum! Thank you my future friends for being here.

I thought you only had agoraphobia if you can not leave the house at all.

Isolation is also a very safe feeling when you feel like you are always saying the wrong thing and it makes you feel inept, outcast and stupid around people. Especially if you have a bad track record like myself.
