I'm Losing My Memory! (are You Losing Yours?)

I'm 58, having problems with memory. Things like not remembering people's names, where I know them from, etc. though I do recognise their face(s) and know that I know them at least.

I forget what the date is, even when I just wrote a check something like 15 minutes before and someone just then told me what the date was when I'd asked!

I am constantly forgetting where I left things, where I put them for "safe keeping" (yeh, right, safe from me?) and where I might have left them even. I do have one trick that REALLY WORKS though: I ask God where I put something. He answers with a kind of image of which room it is in. I go look there and sure enough, there or therabouts it is! I LOVE GOD!

How is your memory doing? What kinds of things do you do to try to remember things, names, etc. when you find you have forgotten them?

I know my husband's grandma, after she had a stroke, kept playing cards, usually with others. I think it kept her mind moving. It really helped her to remain focused. She lived until she was 92 and pretty much had her mind until the end.

There are some games you can play on the internet that can help your mind focus and keep in shape. There are also some books out there to help you with the same. Gameboy has some games like that. They use things like that and Wii to help out in nursing homes. Though you are way too young for nursing home material.

I'm bad with names. They say, if you say their names after they do you are more likely to remember them.

I wish I could be more help, but I do the same things. I think it is because the mind is so cluttered with other things. I need to find places and room for those things inside my mind and throw out the trash.

Abstract, It is something that one gets with Lyme Disease, which I have suffered from since 1985. It has gotten worse of late though some days it is not as bad as others. I have speoken about it to all my doctors! At least, I am told it is NOT alzheimers! Thank God.
