Dom Violence Is anyone here that's been kidnapped? Or has been a victim of domestic violence?

I'm dying to find someone out there I can relate too.
I was kidnapped when I was 22. Even though I wasn't a domestic violence victim, I got caught up in a dv vortex of hell. Terrible child abuse . My memories haunt me daily. It was 11 months of pure hell. I'd like to hear other people stories, even if it doesn't match my story, we might be able to understand each other anyway

I was not kidnapped, rather I was trafficked for 5-6 years from 8 to just before I turned 13. Either way, I do relate to this. The sensation of feeling isolated && alone with our stories is quite ubiquitous on this forum, particularly those of us who have experienced extremes of violence && torture. Either way you are certainly in the right place && welcome to the site.

I was kidnapped when I was 3 or 4 years old. I didn't know what was happening, but I did know it was wrong. At the airport I told the kidnapper they were going to be in big trouble with my mommy when she found out. I remember the flight, and the plane having trouble and almost crashing on landing. I had long hair down to my hips, that had never been cut.... it was all cut off so I would look like a boy. I was away from home for at least a month.

Wow. Do you remember much of what they did to you? A month is a long time!

I’ve been yanked up off the street a few times, as well as the whole K&R thing, and the whole imprisoned against my will (not as a court thing); both in my 20’s and as a side effect of the job(s) I was working / area I was living and working in.

Mine was a more gradual kidnapping. I was with him voluntarily for about a month when he was pretending to be my friend. It's like I walked into a spider web. By the time I realized I was in trouble, it was too late.

I remember. It's complicated.

The kidnapper was a family member. He took me from daycare, wasn't himself, things were scary and wrong. I didn't have the words to say I was being kidnapped, but I understood I was being taken away, and at the airport I knew he was taking me far away from my mommy (which is when I made the comment about him being in trouble when she found out). I remember the long flight, wanting to play with the crying baby on the flight that never seemed to end, the adults screaming and crying when the plane almost crashed on landing. The RCMP eventually were involved. I remember the jail, the jail bars, and the kidnapper joking with me that they took his shoelaces away so he couldn't hang himself.

In a normal family being found would have been the end of it. But there's my ''family''.

We had flown to the other side of the country, so I stayed with family members in that province, but they were the kidnapper's side of the family and didn't like mom. She argued with RCMP to keep me out of foster care there, devil you know kind of thing. I just remember the whole jail thing, and thinking he wasn't even in real trouble yet because mommy would be way angrier and scarier than the cops when she got there. His family members restricted access to her mom (living in the same city), didn't tell mom that my hair had been chopped off, etc. Things were still wrong and I knew it, but they were nice to me. We went to pick wild blueberries and baked them into a pie, and had a bowl of blueberries in milk with sugar on top. Once we were reunited Mom took me to get the little hair I had left ''styled'', and made sure everyone told me it was ''pretty''. I heard that word a lot before we flew home.

I come from violence, on all sides and multiple generations, so I don't particularly remember being abused or seeing violence during that month+... I'm sure it was there, but it was just normal life for me.

Wow. That's insane! So sorry that happened to you. I didn't come from a bad home, I was just a naive 22 year old who got caught up in a vortex of violence. He beat me hundreds of times in that year and abused 3 children on top of that. They weren't allowed to go to school. It was a mess I ended up in
