    Hi Everyone!!!
Tonka is up for a bit of a rough road ahead at the moment. A very close friend has cancer and after visiting him yesterday Tonka is very understandably upset. "Why do things like this happen to wonderful people when scum lives a happy healthy life?" he asked? He asked the unanswerable. No its not fair. And no, its not right. But such is life.
We can only try a little harder in our own lives and be forever grateful that for all our battles, we are not facing such an unforgiving monster ourselves.
Tonka's biggest battle with this of course, will be his ability to keep open the lines of communication. He is suffering, and he is constantly thinking. I know from experience he will ok if he can just manage to talk it out at his own pace.
Death is a battle we cannot win. But watching a loved one face the end, with such courage and dignity, I believe has actually helped Tonka. It is hard to look at your own worries without thinking that perhaps they are not that bad after all. And in recognising that, Tonka has turned a very important corner in dealing with his PTSD. LIFE IS WHAT YOU MAKE IT!!!!! And we must strive to change what we can, and live peacefully with what we cant change.
I believe Tonka will face this next challenge with the true courgage and strength of character he has proven himself to have, as a soldier of life, fighting PTSD and winning. Never Surrender.

Excellent food for thought ryair. My Evie recently lost a friend to cancer. It was of course very sad for her, however simultaneously she learned an important lesson from the experience. Prior to her friend's death, she had struggled with suicidal thoughts and tendencies almost constantly, but with Nicole's untimely death, she came to the realization that she herself wanted to live. She still struggles with suicidal ideation occasionally, and had a relapse of sorts after my son's death, but on the whole her attitude towards living has changed dramatically. Life definitely is what you make of it, even a tragic experience can be turned into good, as is shown by Evie's experience and hopefully by your husband's as well.

Good on him, ryair. It's our greatest hope, is it not? That our dear ones continue to fight PTSD and ultimately win.

This is one of my life mantras when things are rough. It comes from a joke I have with my brother. Its from a film Galaxy Quest. The line is: never give up, never surrender! That, with a salute. Maybe it should be the catch phrase of everyone with PTSD!

Well done Tonka, keep it going. Never give up, never surrender!
