Hello everyone,

I'm 41, female and a survivor of child abuse from an undiagnosed alcoholic narcissistic father who married a mentally broken asian mailorder bride who eventually became his enabler, his codependent and my mother.
My two younger siblings are 4 and 5 years younger than me. I've been in no contact with all of them from 1995 - 2002 and again since 2014 - today.
The dysfunction and violence expands to my extended family.

I got myself into the national child care system at age 14, all by my own will and managed to get the help of my back then class teacher by writing her a letter about what was going on at my parents home. My fair share of therapy has taught me one thing: that there's not enough quality control in regards to therapy.

See, if you are set up with a "broken radar system" as the crappy childhood fairy labels it, you misnavigate to the wrong kind of people in all areas of your life: in your jobs, your relationships and your therapists.

I've managed to get a PhD in a nature science, failed to fit into the conservative mindset of the science related industry, have a series of broken job and intimate relationships, lived like a nomad for the futile job hunt, switched careers into IT and am now finally trying to settle in life.
I've always been a sporty pants, look pretty jacked right now and am working in a nursing home as a volunteer once a week.

My favourite sources of information are
- Patrick Teahan
- Anna Runkle
- Jewish wisdom
- Thais Gibson

Difficulties at forming friendships and relationships made me a little edgy and curious lately, which is the reason why I now dive into the CPTSD topic a little deeper.

Have a nice day or evening, depending on where you live. 🙋‍♀️

Good morning to all of you (depending on where you live),

thank you for your warm welcome messages.
I'm looking forward to learn about your stories and how you deal with your 'package' - I'd love to exchange information with you guys.

Tomorrow starts my new job, wish me luck ;)
Speaking of jobs: I'm currently writing down into my journal past job and relationship experiences to get a better grip of my unhealthy patterns.

@Miyu38: through his channel I gathered a whole new set of wordings and understanding of toxic dynamics, sometimes I'm a little ashamed to not have to pay money for all the valuable information that's available on the internet for free.

Have a great rest of the week! ☺️🙋‍♀️

Welcome! Yes, the toxicity we absorb affects all areas of our lives...

but little by little I've understood my issues, learned to distance myself from the negativity and chaos, and things are better than ever while I still climb the mountain. Like you :)

Welcome. I have found this place to be very supportive. I am sorry you have had such bad luck with therapists. That is such a betray to you and al the others who need help. ☹️
Good luck and congrats with the job!
