Sufferer Older woman coming to terms with lifelong CPTSD

Hi Everyone

New here. Seeking more information and a sense of community that I do not currently have. My fault - for years now I've kept myself alone and isolated.

As an older woman I am finally facing the fact I've hidden mental illness and pain my entire life. For myself I've noticed the older I get, the worse this all gets. Add covid, current state of the world, the daily "triggers" and well... I'm definitely struggling now and quite uncomfortable.

I've definitely had panic moments and episodes in my life but these days its becoming the norm which is what's pushing me "out of the box" to seek answers, tools and to consider some sense of a community I can begin safely participating in again.

I look forward to meaningful and hopefully some jovial human conversations.

Thanks Everyone!

Welcome, Bella! I’m glad you have found us! I’m an “older woman” too…65 at the moment. I can attest to the fact that with persistence and small changes…your outlook can change.

I may be older chronologically but my heart feels lighter than it has in my whole life of depression, anxiety, and many of the other issues of PTSD. I am one who isolates as well so covid was kind of helpful in that way…I enjoyed the isolation and still get groceries delivered. (I take care of my 88 year old mom.)

I do hope you are helped here as much I have been. There is so much info, as well as compassionate and empathic support.

Blessings to you!

Welcome @bellanero. It's never too late to find a community with like minded people with the same 'ailments'. Many people, many ages, from all over the world.

Take your time and read around the forum, articles, different threads that my resonate with you and yes, we even have fun here in Social threads.

Glad you are here and hope to see you around when you get comfortable.

Hey Bella,
I’m 63 and knew to this group. I identify with the isolation. I help watch my 8 year old granddaughter. This helps heal my childhood trauma.
I’ve come to terms in the last couple years that I have PTSD (covid brought that to light) and recently I’ve come to terms with how severe.
This is an interesting and challenging journey and would enjoy a connection with you to share tips, tears, and laughter.

Hi Bella, the fact that you are here is a major step. Reaching out for help is difficult, I can vouch to that, my husband says I am a little stubborn😊 and that’s exactly why I am still here today. We are here for each other, we all need support and understanding or an ear that will listen. Glad we are all here to share thoughts, tools, and courage😊
