I won a Fitbit Alta in a drawing at my local health food store about 1 1/2 weeks ago. I only have 9 days of data so far, but the longest stretch of sleep I have had so far is 1 hour 45 minutes on my 3rd day of use.

Day 2 I slept roughly 8 hours but that was in a 11 and 13 hour period. The other 7 days I have averaged between 4 and 5 and that isn't even a solid block. From 2-3 am I slept about 45 restless minutes and then I was up until 7am then from 7am-1pm I slept 4 hours and 32 minutes with 114 minutes awake or restless.

I am really surprised by the sheer amount of restlessness. My husband tried to tell but I thought a lot of it was just him teasing me, sense he always jokes that I grow claws and fangs in my sleep.

Some movement is necessary, needed, & wanted. That's how we avoid bed sores (bruises & necrosis & eventual open wounds... from constant sustained contact), waking up with numb limbs from nerves being pressed on continuously, and maintain circulation to limbs. Staying still for too long is a very serious health concern.

In general, most people tend to do about 15 / 90 minute cycles between REM & non-rem, and are moving at least that often. Sleep paralysis is usually only on full stroke during REM sleep, and then shuts off after 15 minutes or so, and we shift around for the next 90, paralysis out, shift around, paralysis out.

Now... I'm NOT saying that sleeping with you isn't like sleeping with an irate octopus made of all elbows... You may be super thrashy & in wicked serious need of a sleep study. Just that I personally wouldn't  over a movement tracker telling me I'm moving, when I'm supposed to be moving. While raw data is useful, interpretation of that data (aka sleep specialist) is invaluable.

    Sleep study.

Yeah I wouldn't worry too much. My Fitbit said the same, much restlessness and such. I don't even wear it anymore as the data it was providing me wasn't relevant and since I work with my hands a lot, the step counter was off by thousands.
