Hi, I do not suffer from PTSD myself, however I have met a handful of traumatized types on my travels,

Here is my theory.

A traumatic experience is something unnatural, something that is difficult or impossible to understand.

It is avoidance of memory, because it is distressing to recall.

The consequence is that it gets stuck in short term memory and plays on a loop for the rest of your days.

As you all know, it causes flashbacks, panic attacks, and nightmares.

So, the problem is avoidance of memory, the answer, and I'm calling it short term pain for long term gain, is direct recall of the traumatic memory.

It's a silver bullet, trust me, I'm a doctor.

I dare you, see what happens.
