and I am interested in him...
His name is David and he's really cute/ handsome. We are both elderly, and attend the local Senior Center together.
I am on Social Security Disability and I collect it on my husband's SS number. I don't have any credit on my own number as my beloved husband (may he rest in peace) did not want me to work. I also take a bunch of meds and as far as I know, I would lose my Medicare, our government's healthcare plan for the elderly. I take some dozen or so meds!
I don't want all this to ruin a good thing, but I really would love to remarry, if at all possible.
Have any of you been through something like this? How did you survive it? Did the relationship suffer beyond repair?
Have any of you had to go off all your meds for love's sake? Did it work out?

Yes, I know. So far we have been referring to one another as friends. I jump ahead in time a lot. That is one of my faults, I know.... but there is HOPE, isn't there?

Yes of course there is hope... yet your mind is not cultivating hope... it jumped straight over it and the possibility of a loving union with a companion to all the potential difficulties.

I think it's great that you're in love and have the interest of a man who is mutually interested in you... but don't skip the courtship?

I dont believe that you would lose your Medicare. A simple phone call should answer that. You would probably lose SSI. Can this man afford you?;);)

Oh, courtship is not a thing I have ever done. I jumped into every relationship I have ever had head first and never came up for air! Either lived with him or married him right after our first date! I know nothing about courtship! Give me some pointers.... please!

Hmmm... I have no idea. All I know, I think, is that he lives in a house and seems not to have a car that is running anyway. He might have one in the shop or something....

OK, I read that, and it is a good thing I did! I will try to learn how to take things slowly. Does anyone else have any advice on taking things slowly? I started by writing him a card in response to a get well card he gave to me. It was really sweet, and so far we met in person, we have traded phone numbers and that is all. We have talked for maybe a hour or so, so far. In person mostly. We had one phone conversation, but we ended it on, "See you after the holiday," where we met in person and will meet again on Tuesday.

I hope a deeper relationship develops for you in time, and you are happy. Just don't reduce your meds to the point where it compromises your stability.
