Sufferer Trying to do something hopeful............ C-PTSD from India.

Hello everyone,
I am Himanshu from India suffering from C-PTSD, severe OCD, social anxiety disorder and mild schizophrenia for a little over 4 years now. I have had a few sessions with psychiatrists during initial 2 years (about 5-6 sessions in total). I haven't been visiting my psychiatrist for 2+ years now since my family members think there is no such thing as depression and everything can be solved by physical exercise. I usually never do this (using online forums) since I don't like talking to people, but I have decided to give myself one last proper chance so I am trying here, hopefully it works out.
Thank You, have a nice day

Welcome, Himanshu! It takes a lot of courage to reach out, especially when facing challenges like C-PTSD, OCD, social anxiety disorder, and schizophrenia. I'm glad you've decided to give yourself another chance by seeking support here. You are not alone in your struggles, and there are many who understand what you're going through.

It's unfortunate that your family members may not fully understand your experiences, but please remember that seeking help and support is crucial for your well-being. While physical exercise can be beneficial, professional help from psychiatrists and therapists can also play a significant role in managing your conditions.

Here on myptsd.com, you can connect with others who have similar experiences and find a supportive community that can provide understanding and guidance. Don't hesitate to explore the different forums on the site where you can share your story, ask questions, and receive support from peers who have been where you are.

Remember, it's okay to prioritize your mental health and seek the help you need. If you feel overwhelmed, please consider reaching out to a mental health professional for guidance and support. You deserve care and compassion on your healing journey. Take care and stay strong.

hello Himanshu. welcome to the forum. sorry for what brings you here, but glad you are here.

ditto here. i find social media to be somewhere between foolish and boring, but i don't consider this site to be social media. as with my live support groups, my on-line support groups are nowhere near the same as the social meetups which send my social anxiety into overdrive. support groups are where we share healing hopes alongside honest disclosure of the problems which are hurting us.
my family members think there is no such thing as depression and everything can be solved by physical exercise.
another ditto except that drugs, alcohol and more creative abuse are the preferred solutions in my own family. i don't even try to convince them otherwise while i seek healthier alternatives. to each his/her own.

Welcome to the forum! Sounds like you’ve got a lot going on.

Exercise is incredibly helpful for mental health issues like the ones you’re struggling with. The notable exception is schizophrenia, where treatment is pretty damn essential. It’s tough having a family that isn’t supportive.

I understand exercise is helpful but you really can't exercise if you don't even get 2 full meals a day and guess what I have to cook them myself, I have to cook dinner for family so in return I am allowed to stay at home. I didn't include everything in my story (in my General channel post) since I just wanted to give the gist of it, I used to run 1.5-2 miles every morning at 4 when very few people in the neighbourhood were awake but my body started breaking badly, it felt like my limbs would fall of since I don't get enough food for a person my size (184 cm, 85 kg last I checked --> I am not overweight I am quite lean but am heavy due to high bone density, always have been). So now I just stick to 15 mins stretching and basic exercises in my room. My father barely gets any fruit or high protein stuff during grocery shopping, he told me when I asked --> "you are already 26 why do you need more protein, you are not growing anymore" (I can't believe people have this misconception about proteins in 21st century).
