Just to add another type....my 'official' daignosis--- Recurrent Depressive Disorder..... episodes of major depression, reactive.....(but also hard wired into my brain chemistry because of very early childhood trauma)

Dysthymia - chronic mild depression that erupts into major depressive episodes every couple years or so. I was diagnosed with it in 2003.

It is like having a low-grade fever.
