By the arrival of Summer 2009 my life had been in sustained disrepair for 2 years. I was unable to work or study. I struggled to leave the house. I had no prospects and saw no future. I was given an Olympus compact digital for Christmas. I barely touched it for the first few months. Then I started to experiment with macro; photographing close-ups of insects, dew, flowers… Gradually, photography drew my focus from loss and ruin to the elegant composition of my world. I haven’t looked back.
