Thank you @anthony and staff for your exceptional work on this site! You are truly altruistic. The world needs more people like yourselves. Honestly, I have gotten more support and encouragement on this site than from my psychiatric treatment team. It is good to be here.
I saw my therapist today. We discussed my addictions and she suggested I talk to the psychiatrist about starting suboxone treatment. She said I can probably start this treatment in the office. I told her what my withdrawals were like and she was concerned that I could have seizures if I try to...
Thank you all for your awesome words of encouragement and helpful hints! I have a lot to think about and I really do need to do this if I am going to get my life back. I am so afraid of the withdrawals and the uncontrollable PTSD symptoms :(. Hugs to all for your help .
@Justmehere i guess I may just be paranoid that I may be asking too much of my therapist. I have an appointment with her on the 20th. I will talk to her then.
Thanks @Chava your right about not trying to do trauma work and get off of substances at the same time. I can't imagine not having something in my system to calm my ptsd symptoms. I did drink a lot of water...thought it would keep me from getting dehydrated I just couldn't keep any of it down...
Thanks for your reply @joeylittle i am very opposed to hospitalization just because I had a really bad experience before. I have an appointment with my psychiatrist in November. He doesn't really call you back when you call for help so I need to wait until my appointment. I was hoping that I...
recently my therapist asked me if I drink or do drugs. I admitted to drinking every chance I get and using opioids. I told her that I'm not an addict but that I only do it when I'm really stressed out...which is more than I admitted to her.
So she asked me to go a week without taking anything...
@Determinedone I have a friend who's husband was a DOD employee with several deployments and every time he came back he was like a different person. Some things that she would do were to ask him to just call her and let her know if he was going to be late after work so she wouldn't expect him...
@shinigamidn Hi and welcome. I have been on this forum for a short time and I can tell you that the people here are very accepting and supportive. Everyone here has had some kind of trauma related experience or supports someone that has so you are definitely in the right place for encouragement...
@thejoyprovider flashbacks are a terrible thing to have to go through...reliving horrible things that have happened can really rattle you emotionally and physically. When I experience them I feel very exhausted for a few days afterwards. I hope that there is someone in your life that you can...
Good for her for reaching out for support. If the physician did not think it was appropriate, I guarantee you, she would tell her. Not saying that you are not a support for your wife, just that she may feel more comfortable talking with her doctor about some things. Please allow your wife to...
Let's let the doctor and patient decide what is appropriate or not. I am also a health professional and find it is up to the patient/client and health professional to decide what therapeutic venue to use. The venue used by the wife/psychiatrist therapeutic relationship may be working for this...
Could his self-blame be his way of trying to open up to you and admit his guilt? This may be the start of an open dialogue for the both of you. Possibly a start to finding out the truth. Are you ready for this to unfold?
I'm so sorry you weren't able to reconnect with your mother. Please forgive me if I have opened a can of worms. It is my hope that you will be able to find some comfort by continuing to write your thoughts here... I have found the words by the people here are very true, sincere, and affirming...
