I call my abusive parents The Ghost and The Darkness, after a famous duo of lions (the Tsavo maneaters) who reportedly killed 30 people, hunting them at night, gaining their nicknames because of their stalking tactics and their elusiveness to human hunters.
My Dad is the Ghost.I haven't seen him in 18 years, since he was sent to prison, but he still haunts me. After he was incarcerated, we were left with my mother, The Darkness. She was more abusive than my father ever could have been.
