I am a 30 year old, honorably discharged combat veteran struggling with complex PTSD, Neurocognitive Disorder, Residuals of TBI, severe anger and depression.

I have 2 biological children who live in New Jersey with their mother (Daughter age 7, Son Age 4), 1 Stepson (age 9) who I currently live with along with his mother, my fiancé.

I was a Military Police Officer in the U.S. Army from 2007 through 2013. I was medically discharged due to a combat related back injury from my 15 month deployment to Iraq (Nov 07-Feb 09). While I was deployed I ran many combat operations, convoy security, detainee operations, personal security to VIPs, and much more.

After my discharge I struggled to find work, and when I found it, maintaining employment was difficult. I was confrontational with co workers and supervisors, and overwhelmed with anxiety. I thought I had found my niche after a while, working in restaurants. After a while, that proved to be too stressful and difficult for me to operate in that sort of establishment. Now, I am currently a full time student, making use of my G.I. Bill benefits. School is difficult because I am older, and PTSD makes it hard to get through my classes.

I currently go to therapy twice a month, and see a psychologist typically once a month. I am also receiving treatment for my lower back pain. All of this is provided through the VA healthcare system. While it is not the best form of healthcare, It is all I can do, being that insurance is too expensive for me to purchase on my own.
