    DID Young scared alters

Thank you very much. I questioned the DID diagnosis for quite awhile. Mainly because I couldn't understand it when I have no memory of other alters being present. I just miss blocks of time it seems. It is all so confusing.

    DID Young scared alters

I was diagnosed with Dissociative Identity Disorder last year. My biggest struggle at the moment is dissociating, and getting lost. It has put me in some unsafe situations. My therapist believes I have very young alters that don't want to go home. My therapist has a lot of experience with DID...

Any Tips On How To Handle New Parts?

Thanks everyone for all the information, and your opinions. I've had to sit with all this for awhile, and as usual read more up about it. For starters my therapist is currently on holiday for 3 months. This has given me some time to look for a new therapist. So far it hasn't gone well...

Any Tips On How To Handle New Parts?

I have no idea how to go about explaining this, but I know others who have been there will understand (hopefully). In my recent therapy sessions my therapist has been saying something is shifting. While in a dissociative state I have been talking more. She believes it's very young parts of...

Seroquel For Treating Mood Swings For Those With Complex Trauma - Is It Effective?

@Lizio I am on medication for depression and anxiety mainly. I have tried a few different meds, and haven't noticed a difference. The only thing I have noticed is drowsiness. I have a hard time taking the meds because I figure if it's not helping me any then why take them in the first place. We...

Seroquel For Treating Mood Swings For Those With Complex Trauma - Is It Effective?

I am starting to wonder if it's possible to not react to medication? I assume I should be feeling something, or notice a difference of some sort on the seroquel. Good for you though. Different things are going to work for different people. Exercise is so important, and also a healthy diet helps...

Seroquel For Treating Mood Swings For Those With Complex Trauma - Is It Effective?

I have been on 400mg of seroquel for some time now. I haven't noticed a change in my mood at all. The side effects subsided pretty quickly for me. I am also on 3 other medications and haven't had any weight gain. I have actually lost 20 pounds in the past 6 months or so. Not intentionally. I...

    When Is It Too Much?

More changes.. I am going to start coming off of the Prozac, and I am adding Remeron. My regular GP just sent in a referral today so I could have a medication consultation through a local hospital as part of their trauma therapy program. Nothing so far seems to have made a difference, and I am...

    Dissociative Experiences Scale

That is a good question @ghotiff. It's also a bit of a complex question I think. I can only speak from my experience. I have gotten lost, and have ended up in places I wasn't intending to go (for example another city a few hours away). I will have no recollection of how I got there.

    When Is It Too Much?

@Evan Thank you for that. I am glad to hear that things are changing. Nutrition is so important. Thanks for all the information. Again I've had a change. I have added Naltraxone to the mix for dissociation. So far haven't noticed any improvement. Just a lot of stomach upset and vomiting.

    Has Anyone Been On Naltrexone?

I have been on it a week now and am having a lot of stomach upset and vomiting. It's suppose ease up any day now. I am not noticing anything different yet, but maybe it's too soon.

How Can I Tell If I'm Dissociating

I can only speak about my experience. Everyone dissociates to a degree. That being said it does sound like you are dissociating more than the average person may. That's what happens when one has had trauma. It's a normal reaction I've been told. How you have explained what happens to you, is...

    Dissociative Experiences Scale

Interesting test. I scored a 83, but I have DID. I was only diagnosed with it this past year, and it's still new to me.

Dr. Won't Refill Prazosin Because It's A Controlled Substance?

Finding a new doctor sounds like the best plan. I have been on Prazosin for 2 years now. Originally I didn't think it was helping at all. I still continued to have nightmares. Then there came a time when I couldn't find a pharmacy in the city that had the medication in stock. This went on for...

What Does Your Therapist Do Or Say That You Find Helpful?

I like that she says she'll never give up on me. I gave up on myself long ago.
