I took a midnight overtime shift and a police chase at 0300 ended my career. Radiculopathy at L5 and S1 The suspect got 3-5 and I got a life sentence of chronic pain coupled with PTSD but my family keeps me going.
PTSD is never an excuse for poor behavior or for taking it out on others. You are too strong for that and you must embrace the people in your life that will help you and that need and love you.
It took me 7 years to pull the trigger and see a Psychiatrist and I don't want anyone else to take the same path as me. I have seen some horrific shit and I carry many ghosts with me on a daily basis and I use others people mistakes that cost them their lives to educate my family and keep them safer. The anxiety of worrying about my wife and kids on a daily basis eventually led me to get my head screwed back on straight.I am a work in progress and I am too strong to lose this battle.
