    Seems A Lot Like Catatonia

The oxygenation level is a thing that I worry about. My breathing gets really strange, I draw in a really fast, short breath, then breathe out very slowly, over the course of like... 10-15 seconds. The inhale to exhale ratio is probably 1:20. Maybe not in terms of oxygen in/c02 out, but...

    Seems A Lot Like Catatonia

Here is my introduction post, it spares little detail: https://www.myptsd.com/threads/an-intro-multiple-victimizations.49426/ In addition, not mentioned was physical/sexual/emotional abuse growing up. I'll check out your diary when I'm in the symptom green zone. lol

    Seems A Lot Like Catatonia

Moments ago, someone shared that they have experienced the same thing as I have and have received some sort of diagnosis surrounding catatonia. There must be another thing that has identical or nearly-identical symptoms, albeit on a shorter term basis? My muscles will ~not~ move unless moved...

    Seems A Lot Like Catatonia

Unfortunately, I have plenty of it in my background. I didn't think you were implying I had schizophrenia, just stating that, as far as I am aware, do not. I read the section about 'fawn' response. How do you feel that intersects with the information I've provided?

    Seems A Lot Like Catatonia

Thanks for the quick reply. I have a prescription for Ativan, I will certainly continue taking it on a prn basis. I have not been diagnosed with schizophrenia, nor do I have any symptoms that seem to line up with those described. I'm sorry that happens to you. :(

    Seems A Lot Like Catatonia

While I already had ptsd, after last year's trauma load, which was described in my introduction post, something has changed. I am just realizing now that what one of the major things that I have been experiencing since then has been, as near as I can gather, may be relatively atypical. It...

    Poll Video Games

I've had good luck with those games, @WildMermaid, with the exception Sims 3, which I haven't played. Being able to quickly save and load is helpful, no forced checkpoints. The frustration of having to go back and replay the same part again is almost a sure fire trigger for me.

    Poll Video Games

I love playing Proteus. It's more of a wandering simulator than a game, but it's really relaxing. There's also Eidolon, which I haven't played as much of, but has a little bit more of a gameplay element.

    Poll Video Games

I've heard Mario RPG was fantastic, and it's often high up on a lot of best rpg lists. While not SNES titles, I have been playing a bit of Final Fantasy 1, I got a good bit of the way in to Phantasy Star I (it's a bit dated, but it held up surprisingly well). I'd like to play all the way...

    Poll Video Games

I'm beginning to narrow down the types of games that don't work for me. Anything that involves competing against other people (regardless of whether I win or lose), anything that leads to too much frustration, anything that depicts sexual violence/gender-based violence (an obvious one I guess)...

    Poll Video Games

Haha, that reminds me of my mom and grandma telling me not to get upset with games as a kid. If I had control over how upset I get with certain things, especially things that can lead to flashbacks, and a simple "don't be upset" / "don't stress" was all it took to solve the problem, I'd be a...

    Flashbacks And Urination Urgency. Meh

Nearly every time I come out the tail end of flashbacks, I have to pee. At first I was wondering if my distorted sense of time during them was to blame, and that it was just the result of natural bodily functions plus time. But after I started living with my boyfriend, he says that some of...

Poll Melatonin: Does It Work As A Sleep Aid For You?

Dream Water seems to be the most effective for me, but 3 bucks a night is more than I am willing to spend. Also, as others have mentioned, it seems to be less effective if I don't use them sparingly. I have been using this stuff called Alteril, which contains L-Tryptophan, Melatonin, Valerian...

    Poll Video Games

I'm finding that certain video games push me toward the red; I feel like it's the frustration value that is to blame. Certain gameplay elements are awful for that, for me. In Minecraft, when I die and my items are strewn about, and I don't make it back to pick them up before they disappear...

    Sufferer An Intro, Multiple Victimizations

Thanks. I figured that reading probable triggering content would be expected to a certain extent, but I wanted to leave the option open to skip over the specifics.

    Sufferer An Intro, Multiple Victimizations

Hey, I'm Amelia. I'm having a rare good day today; I stumbled upon this website through google, read a few threads, and promptly signed up. I'm suffering from this nasty ptsd, re: multiple victimizations. I have a lot of people in my life who don't understand, can't understand, so I look...
