Writing A Victim Impact Statement For Sentencing

You are handling this great. Sometimes the process is also healing. If reading it in court will help, no matter the outcome, do it. You can't control the sentence but you decide if you read it or not. Whatever the choice, this letter can be used as a focus for therapy. Or some journal...

What Do You Think Of Being Mental Healthy As We Can Be Vs 'recovery'?

My therapist said something yesterday. I've had PTSD symptoms for decades. They were controlled. They interfered with some parts of my life but not all. For example, I never had a romantic or physical relationship since then. They didn't disturb me or how I functioned. That's not the case...

    Being A Misfit

Nothing is by accident. This TED Talk came up on my Podcast list. I needed to hear this message. This applies to so many of us. The last couple of minutes is the most powerful. It talks about being beautiful in the midst of failure and being a new person no matter what the situation. We can...

Attachment Difficulties From Early Years Trauma Or Developmental Trauma

@Kaluki Trauma changes things. One of the things I learned was that trauma changes how we feel/view ourselves, others, and the world. I know I'm much more jaded about life, people, myself, the world than I used to be. I also don't see myself as valuable at all. Or likable. My T shocked me...

    Various Observations

    1. I must have a foul mouth. My autocorrect just defaulted to the word f*ck. I even write the word frequently never mind saying it. Oh, but a good swear word really expresses the anger and confusion so well. In such a short syllable. 2. It is hard to let anyone inside the defenses: I may...

This Is A Completely Foreign Feeling

Healing is a change. I think a lot of us fear change. It means: change. It also means being vulnerable to someone else by letting them inside your defenses. (The therapists) Trust is hard. :) Even when we want help: there's fear. It sounds like you're finding a good balance in life...

News Military Members With Ptsd/depression Can Be Treated Successfully In Primary Care Settings

This makes sense. It's target focused case management while helping people access care. I'm not sure what they meant by "telephone therapy." That tends to not be highly helpful from what move read. Tele- health is different. Think Skype. The therapist and client are "face to face." A good...

Tips On Making Therapy A Safe Experience

Listen to your instincts. I wasn't there but sometimes the first session is more of an intake than anything else. It's gathering background information, current living situation, etc. I agree not providing an email address is a concern.

    Groomed

A lot of abusers groom, especially if they're in some sort of position of power. What you feel about him is common. Confusion. My hunch there was grooming going on and he got you to the point you have feelings for him. Don't blame yourself for this or best yourself up over what you feel.

I'm not sure you have this in your community but there is a respite house here. It's run by the mental health crisis unit. I'm not sure how it works on the "other side of the pond" but that may be something to check into.
