Of course, absolutely! I'd never have a larger/high-energy dog in a tiny apartment/studio. But most mid-sized homes, those with at least 2 bedrooms (or really roomy 1BR)? Given the dog gets enough outside exercise? Not <really> a problem. Obviously a dog needs to be able to move around, they do...
Another thing I wanted to add, when looking into potential breeds.... since we're considering a vet here in particular, I'd personally look into breeds with an inherent steady temperament. Retrievers (labs, goldens, ...) for example have specifically been bred to not be phased by loud noises...
I LOVE beagles, absolutely incredible dogs, but I would never get one. My late dog had puppy playgroup with a beagle puppy and the stories we got to hear at even a few months old scarred me for life
Nope, European Field line with some American Field line ancestry :)
Yeah, that would be your standard conformation line/show Golden (aka your average "family dog" Golden). Happy-go-lucky dogs buuuuuuuut ... not the brightest by faaaaaar, on average. We have one in our current trainee group...
Just wanting to add. With breeds like labs (sorry, absolutely can't speak for GSDs, zero experience apart from random farm guard dogs during vacations) that are medium-energy (imho and ~experience) and not like those always hyper energy like many herding dogs but also a few others (Inus come to...
When I was young, I waaaaaaanted a Westie. Because I had read a book series where a Westie wearing a cute little bandanda is the main star, being a little detective solving crimes. Super smart dogs. I was obsessed with him :hilarious:
Until I fell in love with Golden Retrievers. I've always...
@Sideways maybe we don’t need more PPE, maybe we need robots?
Meet 'Spot': The Robot That Could Help Doctors Remotely Treat COVID-19 Patients
Easier to disinfect, too (cue: UV chamber it can waddle into after each patient)

@Sideways I tried to read you post multiple times and I'm still fighting a major headache, so please bear with me, there's a good chance I might be just missing something completely...
but.... I think you might be mixing up the two different types of tests?
Antibody tests will become extremely...
Germany Is Conducting Nationwide COVID-19 Antibody Testing
Let's get those wide-scale antibody tests rolling!
In a pilot study a few weeks ago in one of their hotspots, they found an infection rate of 15-20% of the population. This is in line with recent findings from NYC.
Those numbers would...
Considering people actually tried killing the virus with heat by pointing a hair dryer at their mouths... nothing would surprise me anymore, really.
Hence why I also expect some folks to take advices of “injecting disinfectants into their bodies” (the literal wording, regardless of whether or...
Sea otters are incredibly delightful to watch (and yes, I know technically they're real jerks....but cuuuuuuuuute jerks)

The majority of those doesn't actually believe in any death rate. The "it's just a flu" and "you're more likely to die from a car accident" narrative is still VERY strong.
They don't understand that in some areas, the incident, let alone death rate, is really low because the f*cking measures...
SO MUCH OF THIS!!!
Today, someone locally wanted to advocate for reopening businesses by arguing our local fatality rate is merely 0.0002% because he calculated it from the handful of deaths compared to the TOTAL local population, not the confirmed positive cases (which would actually result...
In theory, yes, and it's being done int some places, but in most places there's currently very very limited resources for proper autopsies (aka just too many deaths, currently)
Especially since this is a very popular story currently being pushed by the Covid deniers. Not saying this is the case with Tornadic Thoughts' folks, but... I see people claim how every death currently is being attributed to Covid per default for <insert your favorite alleged Government agenda...
Yes and no.
I have an actual handful of co-morbid disorders, each with its own clusterf*ck of symptoms. Not every struggle I experience is trauma-related :) And then in addition there's just normal daily life with the totally normal stones it throws at you.
Burn-out is a severe, debilitating mental disorder within the depression cluster. When you reach that point, you're literally unable to function, including and particularly regarding work.
The term 'burn-out' is being widely used quite colloquially, casually all the time for when someone is...
I've had this thread on ignore for a little bit, so not sure if it's already been posted, but I thought those were two good articles.
Sleep-related issues are very familiar for us with PTSD, but if any of you feel like it's gotten even worse lately, there's a reason.

This will be seen as censoring.
Just the other day I've seen a discussion in a local FB group where they sprouted all kinds of conspiracy theories and claimed you don't see any of this in the "mainstream media" because it's being censored.
Some things you can't fix. People will believe...
