    Verbal Vomit?

Glad it went well! I have had plenty of those verbal vomit sessions myself lately. Hoping Friday goes equally as well!

@mytai, just thinking about you and wondering if you ever heard from your T. Hope you are doing well! Casper

    Asked For What I Needed

That's a tough one, @mytai. I hate waiting for a response from my T. Hoping she gets back to you real soon! Hang in there!

    Asked For What I Needed

@mytai, can you text your T and tell her you e-mailed her something really important that you need an answer to? I did that to my T just this morning BC she is way better at reading texts than e-mails when her schedule is busy.

    Support From Therapist

@PTSDbegone, I have a really great relationship with my T. I know she cares and I very much appreciate all she does for me. Her caring isn't as much of an issue for me as my ability to adequately express to her how much I am hurting. I did send her an e- mail this morning and she responded back...

    Support From Therapist

I am going through a particularly rough patch in therapy. I am getting in touch with the emotions I have dissociated from my entire life and I am hurting. I sent my T an e-mail telling her I'm struggling and she asked, "How could I better help?" To be honest, I am so accustomed to struggling...

    Freezing With Dread

I feel like your post could have been written by me. I wish I could offer advice, but I am really struggling right now myself. Looking forward to any advice other members might have. Take care and stay safe.

Who Helps You More, Your Therapist Or Psychiatrist Or...?

My T, for sure! I have severe attachment problems and we have worked very hard at establishing a relationship. We text and e-mail nearly every day on top of sessions twice a week. I don't know what I would do without her!!

    Should I?

I have a suicide plan my T made me make awhile back; things I could do on my own to cope, people I could talk to, crisis line numbers, and lastly contacting her. She wanted me to utilize internal/outside support networks rather than turning to her in a crisis. I try doing those things but when...

    Paying For Stuff/ Insurance

I live in the US. We have a High Deductible insurance plan which means the first $6,000 is out of pocket, so I pay $70.55 per therapy session twice a week. After the deductible gets met, my co pay is $14.11/session.

Poll How Do You Leave Therapy?

I have 2 different therapists. Both get up and walk with me to the waiting room. Even after a tough session, this works well for me. My previous therapist just sat in her chair which always felt awkward.

What Exactly Do You Do In Somatic Experiencing?

I've had 2 SE sessions so far. We start with breathing and stretching then listen to what I'm feeling in my body and follow it. She may have me focus on one word or phrase. My eyes are always closed when I get in touch with those early body memories. The first session, my left leg started...

    Two Therapists At Once

I met with the Somatic Experiencing therapist with my T and have decided to go forward with this type of therapy. I have been seeing my current T 2 times/week for the past 1 1/2 years but will now be seeing her once a week and doing SE therapy once a week. Has anyone else seen two therapists at...

    Somatic Experiencing

My T is bringing in another T to my next app't. to talk to us about Somatic Experiencing Therapy; something we think might help me but neither if us know much about. I am looking for anyone who has had this type of T to share their experience and any ?'s I might want to ask this T. Thanks in...

    Ptsd And Filing Civil Suit

I sued the individual, the international non-profit, and the church where my perpetrator worked in a civil suit. It was a 4 year process, but I won $330,000! It didn't undo what happened but it has helped with ongoing counseling costs. It was draining, but I am very glad I pursued that route.

Night Terrors (?) Getting Out Of Hand

I am sorry you are having such troubles at night. I don't know if you are open to medication, but I take a drug called Prazosin that is prescribed in people with PTSD who suffer from nightmares. It really helps and has no side effects. Just a suggestion. Take care!

My Life Is Changing So Fast

I am so happy to hear you are taking this time for yourself!!! I wish you nothing but support and encouragement and hope this time away to focus on you helps you turn that corner!!

    Payment.

I would talk to her about it. Unless you have a very quick turn around for payment by your insurance company, she may not know. It takes sometimes 2 months for my insurance to pay. I know my T does not do her own billing and is admittedly clueless about the whole financial aspect. I had a...

    Sexual Assault Scars

I, too, have an internal injury/scaring that was noticed when I was pregnant years ago and went for my first "female" exam. When she asked about it, I was mortified that someone could "see" what someone had done to me. It forced a conversation I wasn't planning to have, but she was so kind and...

A Few Days Off, A Leave Of Absence?

I agree with @Solara. I have followed your posts and you seem to have been really struggling for a long time balancing work with your symptoms. I have taken a leave of absence from work - twice, and it was the best thing I ever did for me. I realized I was hurting myself, my co-workers, and my...

    Will Therapy Ever Be Safe?

I'm sorry you are feeling frustrated. I saw a psychodynamic therapist for 20 years and we never once went near my traumas bc I was too unstable and acting out to do so. I just started seeing a trauma therapist 16 months ago, and I have grown more in those months than I thought was possible. The...

Play Therapy For Adults Traumatized As Children

I have just started to "play" in therapy. I am quite frozen in there and typically can't even turn my head but rather sit like a statue afraid to move; just as I did during my abuse. One day, I was really triggered when I went to see my T and out of the blue, picked up the big ball she has in...

    This Makes It Real

I get free therapy from our state's crime victim assistance fund for abuse suffered as a child/teen/adult. I don't recall anything specific I had to fill out regarding the specifics of my traumas. I would check with the agencies in your area to make sure that is something in fact, you have to...

    Need Help With Dissociation

I read something once that helps me. The article said turn your head and look left then right, this will get your brain out of flight/fright/freeze mode. Then, engage your 5 senses. Find something to smell, focus on with your eyes, listen to, etc. By noticing and engaging with your environment...
