Moving forward with forgiveness after my bf lied about handling a situation.

How did your boyfriend lie about what she told about the other girl? Are you worried that the other girl is romantically interested in your boyfriend or that there has been something going on between them previously?

I journal, but therapist isn't happy at that

I think counselors are helpful but I think they are meant to be like a cast to a broken leg. They give a sufferer support until they are able to support themselves again. Note a broken bone leaves often permanent signs to the healed bone. And life after recovery is probably stills entails the...

Don't know how to help a friend, ideas welcome

I don't think you are able trick another to change permanently and I would not go building a relationship in the hope you will trick the other to change. It's not right towards her or towards you. At this point it's more likely a)you are going to accept her (w or w/o necessary boundaries) as she...

What was the absolute "low point" of your life and how did you get out of it (if you don't mind talking about it) ?

And do something nice each day (read a book, call a friendnetc) to get a bit mental space from the trauma

    Struggling in first relationship

Do you feel safe with the idea of being in an intimate relationship? I am just a lay person but it would make a lot of sense to me that after getting assaulted several times in the past anything to do with sex would be a scary thing. And if you are first time dating in a few months relationship...

I journal, but therapist isn't happy at that

Something that annoys me is when your (now former?) T implies that you are only allowed to keeps a journal if it manages your pstd symptoms. I mean it's nice if it does that but I do journaling simply because it gives me a narrative to my life. In the long run it probably helps to deal with...

Relationship UPDATED - My friend doesnt speak to me

I think you are starting to process your emotions really well! And while everyone needs their space maybe saying 'good morning', ' good night' or 'how was your day?' isn't unrealistically for flatmates (who are already friends) to say to each other. Amd not just run away to one's room when...

Resentment of a coworker- thoughts? Challenges?

When I start to get irritated with my colleagues/neighbors etc and it doesn't go away with the situation, I have learned to tune in myself to try to figure out why someone makes me feel a certain way. Years ago I was irritated with a fellow colleague who was a bit pushover and imho bit overly...

Relationship UPDATED - My friend doesnt speak to me

Does your friend have plans to get help for his pstd and/or apply for a new work? Because as you described your situation, it does not sound sustainable in the long run. It's already worrying that you are constantly walking on eggshells in your own home because of him. And long periods of...

Don't know how to help a friend, ideas welcome

With all due respect you might want to exercise some boundaries with you ex. It's all fine snd good to stay friends after break-up but how can you have an honest friendship if you already secretly wonder whether she is looking to make you essentially her servant and keeper? Of course if you both...

    Working with triggers

How can one do exposure therapy for Doomscrolling? I tried to desensitize myself for scary by reading them more. It only ended messing me up even more. Now I start to get anxious and high heart rate even by opening a newssite lol. Or should I just keep blocking news sites as they do trigger me?

Need a bit of advice - Would you stop therapy until everything cools down?

Social media is pretty good at creating political echo chambers no matter which kind of ideology. Great that you have found a way to help your local community :). I hope your new therapist is better suited for your needs

Need a bit of advice - Would you stop therapy until everything cools down?

Blocking most news sites and social media has helped me to get out my social anxiety loop/virtual bubble.

Need a bit of advice - Would you stop therapy until everything cools down?

@DogTirare if you are worried about the state of Christianity in UK, what positive could you do in your congregation if you have one? Are you attending services or would you willing to be a volunteer for example Bible reading or aiding in a food bank?

Need a bit of advice - Would you stop therapy until everything cools down?

To be honest this would not be the time to skip therapy imho. It might be a time to change a therapist though if she/he isn't supportive when you are having a bad time a time and your symptoms are getting worse. What I am currently trying to learn that world is always going it's own way with...
