Pandora,
I agree with all that has been said. Putting your trust in someone is very hard for us with PTSD. This past year a friendship was lost because of my PTSD. This man had been kind and good friend and to this day I am not sure exactly what happened. My feelings of friendship ended when...
The delayed emotional response is a problem, isn't it? In my case I think part of the problem is that I kept all my emotions in "the box in my brain" (my words) for so many years and didn't feel much at all. Near the beginning of therapy I was given list of feelings so I could learn to...
That was so funny about trusting your GPS. Here's why... My best friend's husband has one and uses it all the time. Whenever I am driving somewhere with them and his GPS tells him to take a route I am not used to, I ask if he is sure the GPS is right.
So far the GPS has always taken us on a...
Welcome to the forum. My symptoms have been with me a very long time, but I just didn't recognize them for what they were. The diagnosis was very delayed. You are not alone, I am not alone and no one on this forum is alone. Isn't life great!
Blessings,

I sometimes catch myself singing the song "I'm just a girl who can't say no.." So yes, I have a big problem saying no. At this time I am trying to establish some boundaries. Hopefully if I am mindful of the boundaries I have established I will be able to say no without feeling guilty.

Hi Pand,
Really take care of yourself. The stress your body goes through with medical procedures is hard enough for people who don't have PTSD and even greater for us.
I am sure you deserve your very nice boyfriend who wants to take care of you. The self esteem issues are hard to deal with...
Hi Hope,
You are awesome!!
My breakthrough came last Saturday night when I realized what had triggered this recent episode. Once I understand I can take action.
As I wrote in a earlier post, I want to trust, I want to love and and I want to live life to the fullest and without fear...
Welcome Palakika,
It amazes me that no matter whether we are veterans, sexual trauma surviviors, or have witnessed horrible events we all suffer the same symptoms. That was an eye opener for me.

Hi Resurrection,
Nice to hear from you. Your description of PTSD sufferers as sensitive, caring, brave and compassionate was very kind. I agree that we do take much of our anger out on ourselves. That is the reason I have taken the quote "Do unto others as you would do to you" to "Do unto...
I will be cured when my brain chemistry is corrected so the flight or fight instinct switches on and off as it should. Until then I will continue to meditate, try keep myself in the moment, and have a positive attitude.

Pandora,
I'm sorry that you are having such a hard time right now. Maybe it's the moon or something because I'm right with you girl. Nightmares, laying awake through the night thinking about how PTSD has affected my life, little cries throughout the day, this week has not been an easy one...
Meditation is a technique my therapist taught me. Almost every day begins with 30 minutes of meditation. During the day whenever my anxiety levels are high, I become aware of my breath and come back into the present moment. It is not transcedental, but it works for me. There is literature that...
My two cents on the subject...
For some reason it was very comforting to me to be diagnosed with a "label". My therapist told me PTSD would be with me forever, but I could learn to control the fear and anxiety. I have heard PTSD described as an anxiety disorder and possibly a...
