Still On The Fence About Disclosing Details Of My Abuse

I'm going by the latest science on the issue, along with proven data wherein PTSD patients would write out their traumatic experiences, and it got worse. Even Freud didn't try to elicit buried problems directly, but used free-association psychotherapy to probe around traumatic issues and...

Still On The Fence About Disclosing Details Of My Abuse

Standard psychology holds that sharing a traumatic experience kept secret, will make things better. However I've read that, in practice, recalling and disclosing traumatic experiences can simply make things worse; it's not like confession, where you simply share a secret of something you did...

    Sufferer Hello

Schools are horrible places, PERIOD, since they're mandatory government institutions for children where they are stripped of their identity and freedom, under an utterly transparent argument of "education--" when this could be achieved by a simple amendment to existing laws, to require parents...

Undiagnosed First Post, Potential Case Of Ptsd

My advice: QUIT NOW. Go to the website k12 (dot kom) and you can finish online at your own pace-- and it's a real diploma. You don't need to "talk" anyone into it. At the same time, also I recommend taking ACT/SAT prep-courses, since that can determine college admissions and scholarships etc...

Undiagnosed First Post, Potential Case Of Ptsd

    Sufferer Hello

P.S. I had a lot more to add, but time ran out. Long story short, I was housebound for 10 years, and police didn't care about domestic violence. I'm now 52 and still living at home with my mom, having overcome some PDA symptoms to eventually drive and attend some law school, but I still have...

    Sufferer Hello

Hello; I was diagnosed with complex PTSD in 2006, and it was something of a welcome relief after more than 40 years of living with it. I was physically and psychologically abused at home, mainly by my older brother and father, but also parental neglect; and this made me feel fat and ugly, and...

Undiagnosed First Post, Potential Case Of Ptsd

Your situation is similar to mine, i.e. being bullied at school as well as by an older brother, who made me feel ugly and worthless from a very young age. It just snowballed when I got even more bullied at school, and even I have constant "flashbacks" of it.
